Aindrita-Nagathihalli Controversy: Time To Call A Spade A Spade!
With the Aindrita Ray – Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar spat and the subsequent shoddy cover-up by the industry, the Kannada film fraternity has endorsed an extremely unsavory script for its followers.
Allow us to run you through a brief chronology of events, before making our case.
Aindrita, one of the top contemporary names in the industry with hits like Junglee and Manasaare, was in Hong Kong shooting for writer-director Nagathihalli’s (another biggie in Kannada filmdom) film Nooru Janmaku, when she abruptly returned to Bangalore.
According to Aindrita’s version, on December 6th she happened to report to the sets a wee bit late, when an enraged Nagathihalli started ‘verbally abusing her’, ‘forcibly shook her shoulders’ and ‘then slapped her twice’. Her co-actor Santosh also was the victim of slap by the same director in a separate occasion.
She also accused Nagathihalli of touching her unnecessarily during shooting sessions and calling her at late nights.
Of course, Nagathihalli has his version of the story.
The writer director counter claims that the actress was behaving in an extremely unprofessional manner, which includes reporting late on sets, being undisciplined, etc. After first denying the slapping episode, the director however accepted that he had slapped her and that “the slap served her right” and has publicly refused to apologize. He denied all other charges.
Now the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), which was forced to intervene following a complaint by Aindrita has said that the matter had been resolved and ordered both persons involved to remain silent on the issue to the media.
The KFCC has obviously tried or has already managed to broker some kind of peace between the two, but will the real side of the story come out? Or will the controversy be swept under the carpet.
This trend of physical assault must not be allowed to prolong and fester. It needs to be identified and stamped out as soon as possible. And by sweeping the matter under the carpet by muffling the alleged victim and the alleged assaulter, the KFCC is certainly allowing a social ill to fester. Moreover all these accusations and counter-accusations happened live over a popular TV Channel wherein Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar displayed no regret or remorse for physical assault. So this unfortunate episode would get some jusitce if he at least apologizes publicly for the “physical assault”.
The world of cinema is an extremely seductive window of aspiration for its followers. Let such unsavory incidents, not become examples to be emulated by the lakhs of fans.

Nagathihalli shouldnt have slapped Aindrita. There were better ways to handle the situation and slapping is an offense and this kind of behaviour from a such a senior director is unacceptable…….
Jignesh,
I understand your concern for Nagathihalli. The Admin can tell whether its from the same person. Every message written will record the “IP Address”. That way, he can tell whether its from same person or different person. If you think bellitere is stupid, why do you come here and write comments.
This Incident was written all over and bellitere was last to report this. Why blame bellitere for that? You have to blame Nagathihalli for doing such bad things.
All these comments are from the same person. He has changed identities and written comments below. Heaven help us from such a stupid website as Bellitere….
if such an arrogant director doesn’t have the courtesy to accept and apologize after being so shady then he should be banned. who knows who he will slap again in future and refuse his mistake again. this time it led to someone’s ears bleeding, what if it took someones life?
first of all verbal abuse is bad, physical abuse is worse.
there is a movie in bollywood called ‘my wife’s murder’, in which the husband slaps the wife with frustration and she dies. he has to bear that all his life…shit like that happens in real life too. having directors who are abusive and womanizers is a shame to any industry.
Producers are not innocent ice-candy kids lost in a jungle.. Its their money.. Nobody forces them to put their money on wrong person. The basic thing is greed and lack of knowledge. These two factors make them to forget his flops and hope on his hits and tolerate his behavior.
Nagathi is big liability to industry. Many producers have lost crores of money trusting his hypocrite stardom. He has never ever given producer breathing space.
nagathihalli is showing his true colors. People have said he has taken money promising heroines to act in his films and then casts others. He meets people with selfish interest. Both parties played a part but its a good thing this came out in the open.
Nagathihalli is big PAGE 3 with the help of all his stupid newspapers friends. He always tells lie. As per another comment from suma, you are right. He is very arrogant. HE always looks for NRI’s to invest and loose.
Paris Pranaya – 4 crores loss
Nanna prethi hudugi – 1 Crores loss
Well.. Aindrita is no angel either.. Its second time that she’s getting into issues with the Film-Crew.. First time it was with yet to be released Nannavanu..
She’s a page-3 regular in TOI. So Nagathi’s comments about her hanging out in casinos at nights and reporting late to the sets in the morning might be true. Of course, there are other means to handle unprofessional behavior than slapping and slapping is an offense.
Nagathihalli has to have basic behavior. All his movies
are flop. He wastes producers money by writing
scenes and dialogs on set. This cost k. Manju
crores of rupees. He only takes free publicity
and treats entire team like slaves. He should be
kicked out of industry.
