Bandhu Balaga

June 5th, 2008 at 7:19 pm

BandhuBalaga Bandhu Balaga is going to be released on 6th June 2008. Shivrajkumar is looking pathetic in his new hair style. Though he is more known for his acting skills than his looks, one shouldn’t screw up the looks to this extent! Bandhu Balaga is one more to the list of movies(Aramane and Mussanje Maathu) trying to bank on the tears. After Gaalipata, the only movie which made some money in the box office is Mr.Garagasa. Both Gaalipata and Mr.Garagasa were comedy flicks. Still, these Kannada movie producers are running after the tears.

Movie Name: Bandhu Balaga
Release Date: 06 JUNE 2008
Director: Naganna
Producer: D Kamalakar, MB Babu
Starring: Shivrajkumar, Shashikumar, Poonam Kaur, Jyothirmayi, Tejaswini.
Music: Hamsalekha

Bandhu Balaga Movie Review – A Tasty Dish!

By Raju Shanbhag

As we all know, Masala Dosa is a world famous dish in South India. We all know its taste, we know the ingredients and moreover, we all know that too much of it may not be good for our health. But somehow, its earthy flavor and the amazing taste always lures you into the nearest restaurant. Bandhu Balaga is like a well made dosa that will give you your money’s worth, provided you are not looking for a continental dish! You know the story and you know the treatment; but can’t help enjoying the movie for good three hours.

Bandhu Balaga Bandhu Balaga has every ingredient balanced perfectly to glorify Shivanna to the hilt. There are three cool dudes who speak ghastly English (they are the villains, and their pronunciation of English is not the main reason for that!), there are three aged babes, a buttery bombshell who shakes everything god has given her just to keep the excitable youth interested; and there is motherly sentiment too to top up the dish. There are not many films around which tell you the whole story just with their posters and the title (pun intended). But hell, who cares about the story if the treatment is good.

Director Naganna is not a sophisticated Italian cook who garnishes the dish with godforsaken ingredients and confuses the hell out of you. He is a local cook who knows his stuff. He mixes every ingredient he has at his disposal perfectly to provide you an eminently likeable local flavor. He knows the limitations of the story, and carries it around without boring the audience by introducing various masala at the right moment. The fight sequences, the booty shaking carnival, the tearful melodramatic scenes and Shivanna’s Thyagamayi scenes are all mixed perfectly, and you will never know when the three hours have passed.

This movie is by Shivanna, for Shivanna and only for him. Now Shivanna has an enigmatic screen presence that is hard to explain. The man keeps you interested whenever he appears on the screen. But the director has tried his best to screw up his looks by giving him a pathetic hairstyle. I know some of the so called fans of Shivanna will be up in their arms against this statement. But dudes, even we love and respect Shivanna and think that he does not need such cheap gimmicks to attract the audience; he is too good an actor to be doing such things.

One of the most irritating elements of the film is Poonam Kaur, the heroine of the film. She overacts to the core throughout the film and it’s not clearly known whether the credit should go the director or the leading lady herself. Tejaswini looks the part as Shivanna’s sister and sheds tears at the right moments for the right reasons. Doddanna is thoroughly entertaining like good Chutney on a tasty Masala Dosa! Others like Shahsikumar, Harish Raj, Hema Chaudhary, Tennis Krishna and company look and play the part.

As mentioned before, do not go to this movie if you are only fond of exotic continental dishes served in a sophisticated setup. This movie has a rustic, local flavor to it. This is like a simple but thoroughly enjoyable Masala Dosa you get in your favorite Darshini. Give the story a pass, go to the theatres and enjoy a Shivanna/Naganna show with your entire family! You sure will have a good time.

Pheeew, who here has abused the site, all we are concerned is the words used.

Even we dint like his HAIRSTYLE that doesn’t mean i should revolt against it and publicly giving it prefixes.

Even in our forum we have commented about his HAIRSTYLE but never update the same on our MAIN SITE. Not just Shivanna may be any nam HERO’s.

@ Sunil, thanks for your KIND words, anything for KANNADA is accepted and promoted by us. Thanks for GG for letting us know about Bellitere. Now on we would try our best to promote it too.

And your suggestion was heard long back and we have started a site called http://www.sizzlingstar.co.in with a forum.

@ Admin, we never had a INTENTION of abusing you but there are few who take advantage and add fuel to the process. So when its PUBLIC please have some DIPLOMATIC words rather than DIRECT words.

Even i am one among the TROUPE who dislike BB hairstyle.

Please stop abusing Bellitere.com. This is the perfect review website I bumped across luckily. I went to Mussanje Maathu against his review thinking Raju Shanbhog is against Kannada but only to realise his review is correct word to word. He is not biased unlike other kannada movie reviews we read. I think pathetic word is just right while describing Shivannas hairstyle and yes, he is too perfect an actor and doesnt need such gimmicks. I had met Shivanna personally while shooting for this film and couldnt believe he can look so bad. He looked good few years back in a normal hairstyle.

I heard from the people who saw this movie that Bandhu Balaga is not a tears filled family drama as the promos, pictures and songs indicate but a good timepass movie..

Don and others who have started the fight are the same ones who worship this actor at sizzlingstar.co.in. You will have to visit that site to see their devotion :D

Why all this fight!, the comment is nowhere near being called “harsh” i think even shivanna being a professional will accept it.

The film is not even atleast 25% of jogi (initial village setup) I think the director has messed it up why should shiv rajkumar even accept these kind of movies no idea!.

Just because we are kannada movie fans we should not be accepting “jandu balm” movies like this and waste money like this!, hope i had gone thro’ this review before watching the movie.

I totally agree with Admin. Other than bellitere.com, there is no other site in this vast WORLD WIDE WEB, which provides complete information about the latest and upcoming KANNADA movies including pictures, songs, and its reviews on a single page!!!!

One can find sites which provide songs like KA.com, raaga, musicindiaonline, cooltoad, indianmelodyonline, etc… but will not provide photos, reviews, and info. Sites which provide reviews like deccan, rediff, times, forums etc will not provide rest of the things. So just to find out any info about a kannada movie, one will end up searching 3-4 sites – by that time one would have lost interest in that movie itself!

About the content and site design – Nothing more to expect, its already perfect!! Simple and sleek design. A single page provides everything about a movie, which makes this a user-friendly site.

About the hard movie reviews – From an urban perspective, it is true. These directors and writers are living in a parallel world where time lags by 50 years. Standing outside theaters one can easily find out which class and kind of people are watching these movies with their horrible mentality and behavior!!! So people depend on TV for entertainment. Movie culture is gone. With the arrival of new comers in acting, direction, and other fields, movies have failed to entertain. Even big star movies are turning out to be a big crap. Industry and Media (print, TV) have joined hands and there is no transparency regarding the movie reviews. After a fluke hype created by Mungaru Male, the regular path of down slide has continued.

Thanks Sunil for appreciating our website for the right reasons :-)

We want to make one point clear that, “We are neither for nor against Kannada movie industry”. We present un-biased opinions(which is severely lacking in Kannada industry), and strictly based on the merit of the object we are commenting or reporting on. We do respect public opinions and you can check out the vast number of readers comments on Aramane and Mussanje Maathu and you can see that we don’t delete any reader comment even when the readers comment against us. We delete or moderate comments only when the comment is found racistic, obscene, and un-printable.

We are a group of software engineers, Jornalists, and Writers united to bring in this website. As Sunil mentioned, a lot of effort has been going in to bring in this website. We had observed that other language movies like Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi have the vast presence on internet and had any kind of information available at the fingertips. It was lacking in Kannada. To search basic info like release date, crew, pictures, or songs used to be pretty difficult and most of the times used to be an impossible task. kannada movie industry definately lacks transperency. We grouped together to bridge this severe gap.

We try our best to showcase the Kannada movies as beautiful and attractive as possible. I guess we are relatively successful in this effort.

The result is right in front of us. In less than 5 months after the launch of this website, this website has had about 26500 vistors and more than 66,000 pageviews!

    Mr.Don..

you should appreciate the web design, organized content, downloadable songs, and the importance& dedication given to kannada movies!! intead of complaining… if u are found of any actors go build a site of your own and start praising him from toe tip to the “hairstyle.” Do u have any idea of how much dedication is needed to maintain a site. Its easy to comment on the comment box. Be thankful to admin to such a wonderful site ..

Dudes, Check the meaning of “pathetic” in a dictionary!! And also check the meaning of Obscene, and racistic. God only knows how did u guys associate “pathetic” to “racistic”, “obscene”, and “unprintable”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally feel that “pathetic” is too mild a word to describe that hair style..
But tell me honestly, did u guys really like his hairstyle????? come on, be frank..

  16. Don on June 6th, 2008 9:01 pm

Please restrain yourself from using obscene, or racisitic unprintable words while commenting.

Are your following this, Mr. Crap. Can we reach you by some means.

How HANDSOME are u, can we look at. You will not be spared from ur awesome looks.

    Just watch our words.

  17. Satish on June 6th, 2008 8:01 pm

Actually Shivu is abusing himself by allowing Naganna to change his hairstyle like this! But again, Shivrajkumar is a thorough professional and doesn’t go against director..

  18. Dheemanth Gowda on June 6th, 2008 6:48 pm

I see that you have abused Shivu for his hairstyle. Please refrain from suing words like pathetic. Are you for or against Kannada films?

  19. ramalingappa on June 6th, 2008 4:26 pm
