Music Director: Arjun
Lyrics: Shivananje Gowda, Jayanth Kaikini, Ranganath, and Harshapriya.
Movie Release Date: 06-Feb-2009
If you fail in first attempt, it must be music director Arjun! The young musician’s new album does not have a single track that flames up your passion for music in the very first listening. But if you are persistent, a couple of tracks might just grow on you over a period of time. Patience pays off, at least sometimes!
Machchi Sachchi [Singer: Shankar Mahadevan]: Whenever Shankar Mahadevan sings a song in Kannada, he invariably ends up shouting at the top of his lungs and unduly punishing his vocal chords. Last time, we saw him spitting words into the microphone in the title track of Paramesh Panwala. Even there, it was lots of noises and no real music. This time, Arjun hesitantly introduces some semblance of tune with Shivananje Gowda’s instigating lyrics into this song. A so-so track to open the album.
Hoovina Baanadante [Singer: Shreya Goshal]: Shreya Goshal’s soothing voice opens the song, engulfing your senses with huge expectations. It’s not as if the song gets completely deteriorated afterwards. But it looks like Arjun is dragging an unwilling tune into the song and the effort shows. Jayant Kaikini’s lyrics as usual, create a beautiful ballad out of a mundane situation. How does he do that?
Helbide Helbide [Singer: Arjun]: Accompanied with an alleged rapper and lots of heavy bass instruments, Arjun dares to unleash his singing talents on the listeners. The choice is smart as Arjun’s dude voice fits perfectly for this song. It’s not a chartbuster material, but anything can happen when you are locked inside a room and forced to listen to this stuff.
Amma Amma [Singer: Arjun]: After rapping to his heart’s content, Arjun sings about a mother who has deserted her son. While we suspect that the rapper in the previous song might have forced this mother out of her comfort zone, lyricist Ranganath doesn’t offer too many clues. But Arjun discards that rapper and comes up with a reasonably good tune. Come back, mommy!
Madhura Pisumaatige [Singers: Mohith, Shamita Malnad]: While you may not fall in love with this song in the first listening, it might grow on you with a couple of hearings. Arjun has to be credited for his effort as this is unlikely of the regular run of the mill of the stuff that we always hear in Kannada. Mohith and Shamita Malnad’s voice, coupled with rhythmic lyrics from Jayant Kaikini make this already beautiful song more beautiful. Nice effort Arjun!
Jojo Laali [Singer: Chitra K.S.]: Mommy is back! And so is Ranganath with his sentimental stuff. The usual lullaby tune is rendered beautifully by Chitra K.S. but we cannot help saying that this song is another mother-son sentiment song that tries to cash in on motherly sentiments. But anyway, hummable tune by Arjun.
Idu Nanna Kathe [Singers: Vijay Prakash, Hamsapriya]: Vijay Prakash and Hamsapriya extend the melancholy that’s already lingering in the air through their deep voices. Arjun strategically adds some chorus singers to enhance the effect, and guess what? It works! Harshapriya’s lyrics join the pack with their share of heart ripping, tear gushing words. Mommy, I need a handkerchief. But this is a nice song too!
Birugali : A remix version of machchi sachchi, with more people joining in the fun
Amma Amma [Singer: Srinivas]: Mommy, this is just a repetition of the earlier song with Srinivas who sounds exactly like Arjun, with a bit more sadness and tearful lyrics added for the punch.
Helbide Helbide [Singer: Jessi Gift]: Run mommy run. The rapper is back with a huge bang. Jessy Gift has no gifted voice to make this song any better than the original.

What the hell are you talkin about Mr. Raj Shanbhag, if that’s ur real name.
I found the music to be excellent, please stop misguiding people.
Please stop keep comparing to other southern languages… :-X
After the release we will be knowing..!!
the 3 songs of this album are awesome……helbide helbide, madhura pisumathige and hoovina baanadanthe songs are pick of the album…….meaningful lyrics and superb tunes……………
by looking at the trailers it looks like the movie z d remake of telugu hit “chatrapathi”……… i hope this movie ll be one of the blockbusters of 2009………….. all the best to birugaali team
Madhura Pisumaatige song has become one of my favourite nowadyas…..Mohith’s voice really rocks….Hoovina banadante is also good….I didnt like Helbide on first listen, but after watching the video, Helbide is my caller tune!!!!!! Keenfully awaiting For BirugaaLi release!!!!

MY RATING:3.5/5
‘helbide helbide’ song nali Chetan naalkaane kammi iro tara kaanistane! Arjun singing effect irbahudu.
Yaakri, Ganeshana mele goobe koorustira? Naanu maatadiddu Devishri Prasad and Emil bagge.. Paapa chennagi music kottiddare. Just bocs they’re good and successful, they(Emil and Devishree) shouldn’t be discouraged always and just bcos Arjun is new and not as successful as these guys, he shouldn’t be unnecessarily praised!
Namskara guru! Thav Ganesh abhimani antha thiluthu, yargadru abyanthra idiya!! Adre bere movies channigilla antha andre!!! Youtube ali yar yarigu force madlik illa, people watch and upload comments if they like it…. Don’t say its hyed, nobody is forced anyhting…. Ofcourse it maybe your view it may not be good!!! Lets welcome something that’s good and fresh, which can improve OUR industry…
Mr.Shanbhag, I agree Birugaali music is not as good as that of Circus or Sangama. But why are you getting your pen dirty by reviewing such music?? Anyways everybody will forget this movie within 1-2 weeks after its release like Payana, Neenyaare, Nannusire, Maadesha….etc. All these were very well hyped in YouTube. Why cant you people just join the band????????
I dont know whats problem with Bellitere! Open your eyes and look at all other Kannada websites, newspapers, and magazines. No matter how junk the movie or music is, they just shower all the praises without slightest hesitation! Why can’t you just do that?? I simply dont understand!!
You guys demand value for your money and time! Thats too much. How can you just ask for such things from Kannada movies??? Poor guys. Real estate sector is crashed and they’re here to make some quick money and you people ask good music, good story, good direction, good acting and what not!
When Kannada music is on its peak these days, this shanbagh is trying to pull the legs…..hoovina baanadanthe song is one of the best song to be composed these days….and no body is forced to listen to helbide song in locked room, rather listener will force the music system to replay song again and again …such a trendy song this one is….check youtube for the proofs, shanbag we will rate you -5/5 for your consipiracy to kill good music….
chetan!!!! oh god damn sexy wit birugaali
Raju, I am always surprised at the rating you give. I am waiting for the day you will give a 5 star rating for a kannada album
Good songs. But Chetan must learn to dance. He has a good screen presence.
I liked the helbidde rock song .. its good and nice picturized too .. and hey the other 2 melodies madhura and hoovina baanadante which are sweet and soothing . the rest of the songs r not too bad either .. they are bit heavy senti stuff.. but not bad… Birugaaali is a very good album .. check the songs in youtube ,,, they look fresh ……….!!!!
Check Birugali songs on youtube… Just look at the comments and amount of clicks in a week or so…. Birugali really Rocks…
