Chandra Chakori – Story Chori?

December 17th, 2009 at 9:36 am

snarayan You may be among the countless people who have forgotten a film called “Chandra Chakori,” directed by S. Narayan. But the after effects of that film still haunt Narayan like a ghost. The latest one in that series is an allegation by Kanmani Raja Mohammad, a film story writer from Tamil Nadu, who claims that S. Narayan has stolen his story for the film.

According to Kanmani Raja Mohammad, he had registered his story and synopsis at South Indian Writers Association. When “Chandra Chakori” released, he complained to S. Narayan and waited for him to compensate and give him his rightful credit. But it seems Narayan was more eager to continue with his blockbuster ‘Cha’ series films and did not pay heed to Kanmani Raja Mohammad’s requests.

Kanmani Raja Mohammad claims that he has met senior personalities like KCN Chandrashekar, president of the Producers’ Association and Rajendra Singh Babu, president of the Directors’ Association, but none of them helped him out. He is now trying to contact H D Kumaraswamy, the producer of the film and demand justice. He claims that he will go to court, if everything fails.

We may not know the whole truth until the details of this episode are revealed by the concerned parties. But having tracked the latest controversies surrounding KFI personalities, we believe even this issue will be pushed under the carpet!

this article is right. the KFI and head of the Kannada film industry do not do enough to curtail and rectify theft of ideas. This is even after there is sufficient proof and legal precautions taken. when dayal was found to have taken the story for the circus film he had to pay a measly one lack. that’s 1 percent of the film’s costs. No justice from the Kannada Film Chamber

I quote this dialogue from cult movie “Eddelu Manjunatha” -
    Manja: “Guruve, nim film remake-a???”
Naani: “Illa sir, remake maadoke bEre narayan idaare”
