Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu Movie Review

August 7th, 2010 at 9:13 am

BT Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)

No Wonder!

CheluveyeNinneNodalu In spite of its seemingly rich production values, many elements in the film Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu left us wondering. Here is a list of 7 wonders about Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu which we didn’t understand:

We wonder why only three wonders are shown in the film while everybody says they are going for a tour of seven wonders. We wonder if Vishwa’s (Shivarajkumar) persuasive philosophical brilliance convinced the tourists to settle for less than what they had paid for!

We wonder why Ramesh Aravind keeps meddling with the proceedings of the film and make the story look even more dramatic. He appears in the beginning and remembers the days when he and Shivarajkumar acted in Nammura Mandara Hoove. Then, he reappears after the interval and muses how the director may handle the subject post interval. In fact, we wondered how the director handled the subject till then too!

We wonder why Shivarajkumar has to keep philosophizing about as mundane things as food in the whole film. Although he has been a livewire in the film, you dread the moment he starts speaking because invariably, you will get a drilling about something in life.

SonalChauhan

We wonder why a brilliant cameraman like Kabir Lal does such an ordinary job covering three wonders of the world. Even in other scenes (except a couple of songs where he shows flashes of his brilliance) the camera work is nothing spectacular

We wonder why the bubbly and beautiful Haripriya was relegated to the role of second heroine in the film. Honestly, the lass looked as glamorous and as capable of carrying the role as any other heroine from Bollywood. Inferiority complex about our own heroines?

We wonder why the debutant director Raghuram takes his inspirations from films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Prem gets to step into the shoes of Shah Rukh Khan for a while when he runs to the door of his house in slow motion when his mother Vinaya Prasad waits intuitively outside the door, sensing that her son his back home. How mind bogglingly original!

Yeah, we said seven wonders and delivered only six in the review. But if you are getting angry at us for that, beware! The film claimed to have shown seven wonders and they have shown only three or four!

Not a good movie. Only 3 wonders are shown. What a waste of time! When you promise you must deliver.

We should stop making such biased comments about movies. There are certain elements in the movie which is very good – like the direction, tight screenplay, neat performances and wonderful songs.

Shivanna is amazing here, he has turned out to be a versatile actor with this movie with good on screen presence. He fully covers the first part of the movie with very good acting and high voltage performance, probably others would have failed to do in this kinda role. In the second half he gives us a perfomance in silence which is amazing. superb work from him.

Another highlight in the movie is the dialogues. Its truly amazing. we will not get to see much like this in the recent times. Very prompt, meaningful, catchy dialogues. simply great.

Songs form part of the movie’s journey and the placements of the songs is apt. Good thought by director. Harikrishan continues to haunt our mind with melodious numbers.

Raghuram, the director, has worked hard in giving a good movie, his efforts are much appreciable.

Coming to the villian of the movie are the cameraman and the heroine. A kannada girl would have been good for the movie. May be the director only thought of the beautiful face to suite the title. Although she is okay a kannada affluent girl would have done wonders. The movie’s highlight as told to show the 7 wonders is derailed by the cameraman. He does not capture the 7 wonders wonderously. poor work by him. The 7 wonders is shown as movie sets in old movies.

Although the movie has got the normal story line it is worth watching for Shivanna’s performance and dialogues.

Shivanna sorry that your movie is flopin. Such a box office thud

  7. Suresh on August 20th, 2010 10:04 am

Dont worry Manju, there is nothing as such as you guys assume and post matters. The producer is cent percent safe despite intentional delay in the movie release for some unknown reasons and telling lies about the budget.Except these the producer is ok kind and directar is also ok with few glitches. No blow for Shivanna,as long as there is no fault from his side.

  8. manju on August 19th, 2010 7:46 pm

Another blow for shivanna. A final blow for n.m suresh. What a call sheet you have given shvanna saar, that too to a person who was anchoring tv shows and live programmes. Suddenly he becomes a director. Please also think about producers before making such blunders again and again and again… You will never learn.

Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu doesn’t have a strong storyline.
But the movie has good visuals, bollywood narration and a tight script.
This is a family entertainer with a difference.
USP of movie is Shivanna—good in energy, comedy, dance and emotional scenes. The role has philosophical touch to it and at the same time its lively and emotions attached to all aspects of life.
Sonu has sung wonderful song,it is real treat to watch on big screen.
Sonal and Haripriya looks cute ,but latter who effectively showcases his acting skills.
    Harikrishna done wonderful job.
KFI has not seen much movies with tourisim backdrops, great visuals. This is ans to that.

  10. munisamy on August 10th, 2010 10:47 pm

such a pathetic movie. crap direction, crap storie. crap screenplay. nothing is right except few songs. Shiva(raj kumar) dances well at times. Otherwise he looks old, cant accept him as romancing lad any more. better he does supporting roles from now on. One more crap director in kannada. they didnt even had art director….you believe?

  11. munisamy on August 10th, 2010 10:44 pm

What a crap movie. Shanbhag is liberal in giving review for the movie. I cant see shiva(raj kumar) anymore. He has turned ordinary because of age. he should start doing support roles. I donno how people watch these kind of shit. Movie has nothing new except few songs.

one more irritating director gives entry to sandalwood. Did you know? They didn’t had a art director for a movie. They are such bright people.

  12. Class on August 9th, 2010 9:45 pm

Review is different,it seems that the person is in full confusions and went to movie with someother mindsets.
After completion of marriage function, there are supposed to continue the trip and cover the rest wonders(but in sonu nigam song,3 wonders will come)its commonsense that tourists will watch remaining later.
The person giving introduction cannot literary appear whenever viewer wishes to.

Shivanna’s name is Viswa–worldly knowledge, its character’s speciality and uniqueness to talk about the life since he is guide and seen lot of people.
The camerawork is something special to Sandalwood, let us apprreaciate it.
There are some parameters for leading heroine, let us not forget that its Shivanna who has given maximum encouragements to local heroines, artists, etc then any other in the history of KFI after Rajanna. No regrets whatsoever.
The Prem mother doesnt wait outside the house ,infact her heart beating sensing his arrival. No matter what the bollywood shown that way, nothing to mention such.

Finaly and most importantly, the reviewer must borne in mind the importance of being impartial and making healthy and constructive comments.Since we have already seen few trusting his comments blindly and showing thier prejudices.

  13. Anoop on August 9th, 2010 7:29 pm

    @its me
They have shown all wonders, dont believe fake news. The heroine is apt and suited well to the role.Haripriya role is good and she looks cute.Shivanna is most versatile actor, folks are sensible enough unlike the other dumbo nonversatile/remake fanatics. The script is sensible with enough scope for feel and visuals.

  14. Anoop on August 9th, 2010 7:09 pm

A complete family entertainer with good feel and rare experience. As mentioned by some story might not be strong but travelogue experience, good feel and brilliant script.Shivanna rocks as usual and truely he is next Rajkumar in acting and versatality.
To all legpullers,go and watch the movie instead of blindly posting something by default. We need good feel movies more and more,if you miss this dont keep telling that KFI doesnt make good movies. The movie take off is good and sequences start all most to haunt everywhere. The scene prior to interval is nice.Harikrishna scores maximum marks in songs and bgm.The producer is good tasted person,we need more and more such folks. The climax is natural and effective. The word of mouth opinions are excellant among the sensible crowd. They have seen all wonders, needs to watch carefuly. All songs are haunting ones and have been picturised very well.Overall rating is 4/5 .

  15. mana on August 9th, 2010 4:00 pm

Shivanna himself is a big toture. accept the fact that he must stop acting in movies.

  16. Its me on August 9th, 2010 2:23 pm

no problem …if they have shown 3 -4 wonders… we kannada audience are brilliant enough to accept it …we love hero and we love all the foolishness of the film…let them bring bollywood heroine we love it …let our heroine get 2nd place we love it …let the story is DABBA ..we do love it …

  17. Richard on August 9th, 2010 11:25 am

Shivanna rocks in lively performances, dances and energetic presence. That alone is enough fopr 4/5 rating, this rating is bit far from truth.

  18. Madhu S on August 9th, 2010 9:24 am

Shivanna should seriously stop acting. Enough of tortures

  19. Shekhar on August 9th, 2010 9:22 am

Worst movie… Showed just 3 wonders and claim 7 wonders… There were not even 8 people in PVR to watch this 8th wonder.. LOL Crap movie which is mixture of several movies..

I am strongly with you while protesting for being assigning Haripriya a second heroine job. I don’t know why our own people debase our own people. Very sad of us :(

I wonder why you write reviews ……
Is this a review or lamblasting..?
Set standards in writing reviews… do not stoop to these levels of crap.
I truly think ‘prajavani’ gives the best review.

  24. mrutyu on August 8th, 2010 12:11 am

  25. Suresh on August 7th, 2010 9:05 pm

Shivanna is fountain of zeal ,Mr Praveen.Probably you didnt comprehended it properly.
Raju Shanbag is always biased and in consistent, irrespective of movie quality he is bound to be contrasting and in negative frame of mind.

    India glitz review

    8/10

  27. kumar on August 7th, 2010 5:17 pm

Raju shanbhag u r absolutely wrong the movie deserves minimum of 3.5 or 4 and i dont know how u rate it i feel you can have a watch again and rate it…how come other media and websites rating it good.

  28. Praveen on August 7th, 2010 2:41 pm

Movie was predictable.. Ramesh Aravind was irritating… Prem’s character was useless.. Dont know how they casted Prem.. He does not know anything about acting. Only Shivanna is the saving factor.. But his age factor is strikingly visible at many places.. Also, the stiking wonder of the movie was ordinary camerawork, which is purely my personal opinion…

Got something to say?
