So Near, So Far..

Movie Review By Raju Shanbhag

Circus-Ganesh

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please. Our new train named Circus Express is all ready to depart from the platform you choose, as producer director Dayal Padmanabhan is all ready with his green signals to go ahead. You may be surprised to know that this train has no long haired rowdies or baby faced chocolate mongering lovers as its passengers. The train runs on a new track (story) and shows you new places and things.”

“But my innocent passengers, this doesn’t mean that you will have a rollercoaster ride in the coming two and half hours. Remember, this is an Indian train and you can expect only so much from us. Circus Express may have tried an alternative track, but the things that lay ahead are still predictable, and we would like to share a secret with you now. Director Dayal has made no effort to make your ride enjoyable. He thinks the new track (concept) is enough to win you over. Do you agree?”

“For those traditional passengers who can’t board a train without knowing what to expect, here is the itinerary. We have Ganesh and his run-of the mill filmy friends who love to play pranks on everyone. They once send a letter to a railway station stating that they will bomb a strategically named train, Gandhadagudi Express. But one person with poor looks and poorer acting skills puts Ganesh’s address in the ‘from’ column and all the hell breaks loose.”

Circus-Ganesh-Archana

“Wait, don’t turn away. Our director expected this (he has a hoard of flop films to quote from) and has introduced a twist in the track. There is a group of terrorists who want to blast Gandhadagudi Express for no apparent reason. In a typical filmy coincidence that pushes this film for another half an hour, their planned date falls exactly on the date when Ganesh and boys threaten to explode the train. You might have already guessed the destiny of this train, and if you predicted right, we can only say you are an experienced passenger.”

“We would like to warn you beforehand that this train ride misses an extremely important aspect of the journey, which might make your journey even more unexciting. Like an AC couch that has no cushion on its seats, Circus has no good dialogues. Even with Ganesh trying to make his best with whatever available, it still hurts in the wrong places. Don’t tell that we didn’t warn”

“Director Dayal Padmanabhan takes this train smooth and steady. But some disgruntled passengers are already complaining that they expected a rollercoaster ride since it’s an alleged thriller. We would like to state that we lack the funds and imaginations to take the story to another level. Your inconvenience is somewhat regretted.”

“Ganesh is the only man who prevents you from pulling the chain midway. Watch him, he is among the best in business in Kannada. He emotes well, lost some his weight (maybe he was running along the long railway tracks all these months) and improves his action skills in Circus. But it is still pathetic to see him without any good dialogues for which he is known for. There are some, like the clean drinking water you get every now and then in long rides in railway stations, but they are not enough. People are thirsty for more when they see Ganesh.”

Circus “Look at the ladies compartment, ladies and gentlemen. The lonely girl who is sitting in the compartment is Archana Gupta. She is beautiful and she is a disaster when it comes to acting. If you look at the structure of this train carefully, you’ll understand that ladies compartment was never needed. But our director thinks passengers demand it, and our passengers couldn’t care less.”

“The technicians who run this train are first rate. Emil shines both in songs and background music, although it feels somewhat overboard at times. Cinematography is good and editing is fast”

“There are other passengers too on this train. People like Avinash, Padmaja Rao and Sadhu Kokila make unintentional guest appearances and they will remain in waiting lists until the end of journey. Nope, nobody even cares that they are inconvenienced.”

“We invite you to this ride for sure, but wouldn’t complain if that coffee break seems too tempting many a times in the movie.”

Shubh Yatra

Wat a stupid review by Mr. Shanbhag!the movie is too gud!i hav seen it twice. music is also gud.picturization is also gud.i don no y this reviewer has givn rating as 2.it deservs 4.each n evry site n evn newspaprs hav praisd d movie.only for this bellitere the movie is bad.n they wil giv gud reviews for al puneeths movies(like Vamshi wich is a remake bt director nt willing 2 agree)i think belliter has been paid to write such review 4 circus.i don no y peopl r tryn 2 spoil ganesh’s image.i agree his recent 2 movies wer nt so impressiv.bt it made money.y peopl wont talk abt darshan who excpt his gaja had all 3 flop movies in a row.evn the so cald srk ie shivrajkumar had nt evn 1 hit movie last year.ganesh came fro a poor family n he has cum up with his hard work nt with money like shivrajkumar, puneeth, etc who r born up with silvr spoons n doesnt no wat r d difficulties of a poor.
So i suggest u al peopl dont go by bellitere reviews.circus is a very entertaining n a thiller movie.go watch it.

    hey guys,

After I read the review and comments abt the movie in bellitere,I thought CIRCUS would be the worst movie!!!But,the review and the comments made it wrong!!seriously,CIRCUS is a wonderful movie!!though the heroine is just like commercial ad in the film, the songs, dialogues, and tight narration keeps us fixed on to our seats…The second half makes us feel of an HOLLYWOOD movie!! Ganesh has given a brilliant performane..I request all of u to go and watch the movie…nodade sumne maathadod beda..!!Please,watch the movie…(nim thatha dudd kodthaana antha don’t ask me)In fact,After seeing Bombaat(Alone in the theater) and Sangama(15 people in the theater) i had decided not to go to any of Ganesh’s movies…But,after reading the reviews and comments on the film..I really wanted to chk out what that’s so much terrible(gabbu) in the film…But,CIRCUS is a wonderful Film!! Ganesh has again got a re-birth..please guys kannadada huduganna belesona….Let’s not loose ganesh…Ganesh bittre kannada cinemadalli nodo antha mukhagalilla….I am not a PRO of the film or ganesh..but still please go n watch the film…Hats off to Circus film team…Dayal has got a good future!!

It is not too much worst as u above said guys. But, frankly speaking upto interval it is waste. If any other good director has directed this story, may be it would have been presented in a much better way.
