Dheemaku Music Review
Fully Faltoo!
Dheemaku Audio(Music) Review By Suchitra Preetham – suchi@bellitere.com
If you thought the title and the movie stills were cheap, well… the music director Arjun has managed to carry the same flavor to the music as well! But it’s the debutant hero Naveen Krishna who steals the show in terms of his contribution to the mediocrity of the movie as well as music! In an era where specialization is the catch-word for the day, Naveen Krishna has tried his hands on lyrics and singing as well. But looking at his performance as lyricist and singer, the way these people have taken the Karnataka audience for granted is simply staggering!
Agreed, there are a lot of things that come easy in the form of hereditary (including straight-way access to Sandalwood). But I do remember a word that accompanied hereditary – called ‘variation’. Now then this twenty-year-something ‘variation’ has done what he is best at – college tricks. Wonder now if it is called launching Mr. Jack (of the all trades fame) or simply cost cutting measures by the producer? Any other option will be an eye-opener, Ooops ear-opener!
Do I have to do this review? Will start with what struck me as best of the worst out of the eight!
Huchcha Annu: idu correct sir! This number sounds funny. This is the only chance to call anyone a ‘Huchcha, Daddi’ with no offences. Harshapriya’s words propel the comical disposition for the song. And yes, Udit Narayan and Chitra’s voices are never a letdown.
Suryaane: Closing your eyes, you can put your finger on the bull’s eye. The Adnan Sami dent is obvious. ‘Dent’ because the hindi-isation of Kannada is unmistakable. Bollywood sound-gods’ deliberation or slip-up?
Kanna Gudde: This is the number that is written by Naveen Krishna, sung by Naveen Krishna who incidentally also acts in the movie! For this song, we can only say Nanditha as always sounds melodious.
Romeo: Another attempt by Naveen Krishna at writing and singing. Please note the use of the word attempt.
Maribeda: It’s an easy maretubidu for Harshpriya’s patriotic lines. No, Arjun as a music director does not help, nor does Mr Jack (Oops Naveen Krishna). Kaapadu deverae nammannu!
Kaasidre: Kaasidre enu! Preethi bittare enu! This is no new sudhi in no new style either!
Suprabhatha: Krishnegowda just changed the words in the Suprabhatha. It is funny alright! But nothing much to write about.
Nodai Kaanta: Do I have to write this. My ears still smart!
On the music director: Shall I skip this pleeeease!!!!!!

Yeah Dheemaku music is avg. But I would prefer “kanna gudde meliruva bimba” any time over “chitranna chitranna”
