Different Hues of Pooja Gandhi
Trust Pooja Gandhi to test new waters in KFI, when other established heroines are content to play the arm candy to the leading men. We don’t know whether Pooja consciously seeks such ‘Vibhinnavada’ roles or they just fall into her lap. She has played a mad girl in Huchchi and will be playing a village girl who gets ragged in college in Aptha.
The once lucky star of producers in KFI, Pooja is also playing the lead role in Na Raani Maharani. But of course, the name doesn’t leave anything to speculations and clearly lets you know where its origins are. Pooja is playing the double role played by Malashri in the original and B. Ramamurthy, the director of the original flick, is making a comeback of sorts with this film.
Not that Pooja’s experiments have been met with enthusiastic responses earlier. Anu, in which she played an investigative journalist didn’t set the cash registers ringing. Incidentally, Sanjeev Kumar Megoti, who played a small role in Anu and was also the Assistant Director for the film, will direct Aptha.
That said, one really has to appreciate the experimenting nature of this Mungaru Male girl, for there are very few in KFI who dare to tread the unknown paths!
