January 18th, 2010 at 9:39 am

ksAswath The end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 are not going well for the Kannada industry. Dr K.S.Ashwath, one of the finest character artists to light up the Kannada screens passed away on Monday morning in Mysore. He was admitted to hospital because of illness.

Born in in Karaganahalli Village in Arakalagudu Taluk, K.S. Ashwath started his film career with ‘Strirathna’ in 1956. This amazing actor with a very natural style acted in more than 350 films and gave memorable performances in films like Nagarahavu, Kasthuri Nivasa, Sandhya Raga, Belli Moda, Gejje Pooje, and many other films. His last film was Bhupati.

It’s sad that Dr. K.S.Ashwath passes away a few days after Dr. Vishnuvardhan left us. The duo played one of the most memorable teacher-student combinations on Kannada screen in Nagarahavu.

May Chamayya Meshtru’s soul rest in peace.

You can never find a such a committed and straight forward and wonderful human being. This incident happenned 30 years. It was during the shooting of Dr.RajKumar’s Movie.

Ashwath came with his son for the shooting. During the lunch break, ashwath and his son both had food. But ashwath was searching the producer of the film. He gave the money for food for his son. The producer told its fine and not to worry. Ashwath replied that, only he has right to get food not his son. He forced the producer and paid him. Ashwath thanked producer for taking the money.

In these days in gandhinagar, all are full of cheaters. Even KFI never gave any kind of recognition. He got state award twice but did not even get a SITE. Every state award winner should get a SITE. He loved ART and Lived for It.

PS: Gururaj is right, all of them are typing comments for Suryakanthi review and YB new movie. There is nobody to even think of Chammaiah Mestru.

Very bad new hard to digest for sometime.Aswath is rare artist who gave new dimensions and meaning to the character acting. There is nobody to replace his place such is his worth.Who can forget him in Bangaradha Panjara,Kasturi nivasa,Naagarahaavu,ModadhaMareyali,Hosabelaku,Mruthunjaya,Aasegobba Messegobba,AnuragadhaAalegaalu ,etc. The govt ,chamber and more importantly top actors must try to see that others who are in deep troubles due to some reason or other are given helping hands.May his soul rest in peace.

Forget about govt honouring this veteran actor, think about the public… You will find hundreds of Comments posted for useless movie reviews, music reviews, Gossips.. but on this article, there are only 3(Including this one).. so its equally public’s responsibility to honour artists…
Am really feeling sad for this kind of treatment for one of the greatest character artist of the Kannada Film Industry..
MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE ASHWATH SIR…

It is indeed a bad news that we have lost one of our greatest veteran actors. . We can never forget his roles in the movies like nagarahavu , bangaradha panjara, bhagyavantha and so on. . .Being in the industry for so many years, there are no bad rumours about him. . . He was known for his discipline and simplicity and never harmed any one in his act or words. . . Unfortunately the government too did not consider his contribution to the k.f.i and did not honour him properly when he was alive. . I hope that atleast now the government will consider other great artists other than the lead actors for their good work. . . may his family be courageous enough to bear his loss. . .
