Bari Olu!

After the breezy Mussanje Maathu, V. Sridhar dares to be the partner in crime with Upendra in Dubai Babu. This film is a remake of Telugu super hit Dubai Seenu and we don’t know if the sacred legacy has been carried forward in the musical departments as well. We didn’t bother to check, as the songs are average and depend completely on the way they are shot to make any impact. This time around, your music is not worth any Maathu at any time of the day, Mr. Sridhar.

Better luck next time.

Pe Pe Pe: If you thought that the title of the song was asinine, wait till you listen to the entire lyrics penned by Buddhivanta Upendra. No doubt, the lyrics are funny at some places, like oasis in the Sahara desert; but you laugh entirely for different reasons when you listen to middle aged Kumar Sanu crooning Pe Pe Pe Dum Dum in his manly voice. Not for the gentle hearted. And there is a remix version of this song too; with more drumming and more chorus.

Uppi - Dubai Babu

Abdulla: The noisy commotion of shaky Abdulla, Shocking Cinderella, carefree Kaviraj and crooning Karthik make this song an overcooked dish that has indefinable tastes. You try concentrating on the lyrics, and the beats of drums and a yelling Karthik make sure you fail miserably; you try listening to the tune, but the lyrics pull your leg at the wrong moments. Give up.

Bendakaloora Gowda: The song with distinct European style drum beats and a military orchestra is all about Bendakaloora Gowda, who ain’t willing to speak anything other than Kannada! But as incongruous as it may seem, trust Upendra, who has written, sung and acted in this song, to come with something whacky to justify this unholy merger. The tune is unabashedly average.

Baachiko Baachiko: Don’t let the pedestrian title of this song fool your taste for music. This is the only song that may command a repeat listening in this album from your abused ears. The lyrics by V. Sridhar constantly poke a sensuous fun at the tune as it’s all about Baachiko, Tabbiko, Appiko and so on. The presence of Nikhita in the cast of the film gives a deeper meaning to the lyrics. Nodiko.

Once Upon a Time: Once upon a time, V. Sridhar used to give beautiful songs to films like Mussanje Maathu. But now, it’s a package deal. V. Sridhar writes, sings and composes the alleged track for this song. The song is not bad, but its nowhere near the quality of some of the songs he composed for Mussanje Maathu.

Bendakaloora Gowda is a ripoff on “Koolikeranga” and Ratnana Pada. Why does Upendra have to ruin these classics :x
