Guruprasad announces his new film

December 12th, 2009 at 9:21 am

directorsSpecial-GuruContinuing the tradition of restricting his directorial skills to Jaggesh family, Guruprasad, the director of Eddelu Manjunatha, and Mata has announced his third film starring Komal at a simple function held at Grand Ashoka on 10th Dec 2009. Along with Komal, another Guruprasad regular, Tabala Naani is also in the cast. The script is complete and the selection of the rest of the cast and technicians is in progress. Shooting is expected to begin soon.

The film is going to be titled as “Director’s Special” or DSp if KFCC allows this English title. This time, Guruprasad takes on the Film Industry itself in the movie. Komal is playing the role of a Film-Director of a movie within the movie. With the Kannada Film Industry already in the limelight for all wrong reasons like Aindrita-Nagathi spat, KPA’s autocratic rules and series of flops, it’d be interesting to see what all dark sides of Gandhinagar that this film touches upon.

    Dear Guruprasad,
Matha is one of the gold stone in kannada industry, why ur upcoming projects are so late sir?in novaydays making of the movies are very worst there is no good stories, characters, acting and more dangerous thing is that every actor & director will go for remake movies,in kannada industry directors and actors, they don’t have own idendity and they don’t knowledge?the intelligent and knowledge director only can do the swamake movies,

Guruprasad’s movies have TV serials quality even though the content is alright.. For his movies, big silver screen is an overkill and Black and white TV screen is more than enough. In fact, his movies can be watched in a low-end mobile without missing much! Ridiculous under-usage of movie making technologies, cinematography…etc. He should take training on film-making.

EM was worst with poor and old stone age story. But dialogues and narration was good trying to throw light on darker side.Guru is educated and avid reader of books,he must not try to work out oldstone age stories and try to recycle it with dialogues ornaments.Instead he must focus lot on contemporary issues,i suppose there are lot more.Even if he wants to show uneployment, lazyness, gossiping, lies… he can show that among working ppl of corporates, banks,IT,BT and other organisations.

    @Eddelu manjunatha:-

One of the most uninspiring and ineffective movies directed by the untalented (?) director Guruprasad. MaTa was worse and this one is the worst one! I am surprised that Kannadigas welcome such cheap movies. Double meaning dialogues are real torture to ears. The only good things about this movie are:
    1. Good Music
    2. Yajna Shetty’s acting

    That’s all in my view.

  16. KFI on January 3rd, 2010 10:23 pm

Yes, you guys are right. Actually, Guruprasad is the only intelligent guy in Kannada Film Industry. His movies’ screenplay and dialogues are simply superb. Dialogues are so witty and the satire/dark comedy elements are too good. He is leagues ahead in terms of intelligence and common sense, than any other film directors and movie makers in Kannada now.

  17. Gururaj on January 3rd, 2010 10:09 pm

Guruprasad is One of the most Talented directors of KFI. Especially his dialogues works like a wonder. Every dialouges has several meanings.. His movies deserves multiple watchings for this reason.

  18. Achyutha Rao on January 3rd, 2010 9:27 pm

    Om gurubhyOnnamah…
It took me 4-5 watches of his “maTa”…to fully understand…
that speaks volumes about the kind of homework he would do for his movies…
    Great Going, Guruji!!!

  19. Gunda on December 15th, 2009 10:05 pm

Guru Prasad obne tale iro mansha KFI-nalli… Uppi-nu hinge idda, aadre haaLaagoda…

  20. YeddidhaneManjunatha on December 15th, 2009 9:18 pm

Mata and Yeddelu Manjunatha are undoubtedly the two best movies in past few movies, it is really sad that people who gave such movies have parted ways but nonetheless even Komal is great actor, but I am more than anyone else I am eager to Table Nani again on the big screen – He is the unsung hero in Mata, he is fabulous, but Guruprasad is the undoubetly the best director in Kannada Film Industry Today and Chandrashekar is limited all his other movies are crap other than America America and his ego has taken over him, Lets see what Upendra with Sooper, i hope it is super :)

  21. kumar on December 14th, 2009 8:03 pm

I very much like the acting of jaggesh and komal on screen.
But i dont like their behaviour…like incidents of showing their slum-mentality against their former mentors and other people

  22. raju on December 14th, 2009 10:24 am

    nagathihalli – waste director.

  23. Mahesh on December 14th, 2009 9:18 am

Shashank is over-rated.. He’s nowhere near to Guruprasad’s class. Guruprasad is realisitic and more honest in his approach. But Shashank takes events closer to reality and blows them out of proportion. Thats why Moggina Manasu couldn’t perform above average at the BO, despite media hype. Shashank is just one more Nagathihalli in the making, a pseudo intellectual.

  24. vrushchika on December 13th, 2009 11:33 pm

Guruprasad and Shashank(of Moggina Manasu) are the only two who can intelligently think and give the same in the movies. Yograj Bhat, Suri, Nagathihalli, Chaitanya know their limitations and adhere to formulas..they cant give anything out of the box. Prakash is good in family dramas.

SV Rajendrasingh babu, Nagabharana and other biggies have gone away from lime light and not able to take any risk and present any contemporary things.

All mentioned people are the only few who can do something to the KFI but cannot anything happening day in and day out.

  25. GuruFan on December 13th, 2009 8:39 pm

Super…. Guru is the only intelligent guy currently in Kannada Film Industry. He surpasses our beloved Uppi and Kashinath….
