Hendateera Darbar Movie Review

(2/5) ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರೇ ಹುಷಾರ್!
There is a very funny connection between the story of Hendthira Darbar, and the way it’s made. While the film tries to tell the problems of middle class family, the problem of the film is its middle class narration. Right from story, screenplay, direction and acting, everything here is strictly middle class, neither too bad, nor too awe inspiring.
We are told that director Shekhar has a rich experience in filmmaking in the Tamil industry. But our experience of watching his Kannada debut movie was far from rich. The film has the same sob story of a typical Indian middle class family, seen earlier in films like Yaarige Saalutte Sambala. To dilute the shattering effects this story might have on the poor viewers, Rangayana Raghu and Sadhu Kokila are roped to provide comedy ‘reliefs.’ They succeed sometime, and they just give up some other time. Really, there is a limit to what they can do.
Ramesh Aravind is a typical middle class clerk with a typical middle class wife in Meena and two typical middle class kids. They live in a typical middle class house with typical middle class neighbors with typical middle class problems. After meeting a mid aged upper middle class wife, Meena decides to grow out of her middle class problems at the middle of the film and that’s when the problem starts for Ramesh Aravind, who, by the way is in the middle of a series of some exasperating comedy films in his acting career.
Ramesh Aravind and Meena are seasoned campaigners and you can hardly point your finger at their acting. The producer of the film does a major role in the film and all we can say about that is it’s his money and his film, so he can do whatever he wants. Rangayan Raghu and Sadhu Kokila are typical sidekicks. The direction oscillates from being ordinary to careless (there is this amazing scene in the film when a computer monitor is passed off as a TV!)
Husbands beware, is the tagline of this film. Act on that advice if your wife asks you buy tickets for this movie!

The most suprising thing about the review is seeing some words in Kannada!
BTW Raju is doing a good job posting reviews about Hindi cinema. Keep going! After all there are very few sites which publish Hindi film reviews and plenty of sites which publish Kannada movie reviews.
@Prashanth.. I dont agree with u.. Anyways will end this here.
Ramesh is not a actor who started his career yesterday. He is decades old and has worked with some of the best Actors and Directors in Industry. and also he himself has acted in very good movies. So his experiance is nothing to question about. But I really feel sorry to say this, A matured and experianced actor like him should think before taking any movie. His latest movies are so horrible that i am afraid to say , they even run for 2 weeks successfully. Ramesh Sir, Please put some thought before taking any movie. This will help you and also help the Industry.
@ gangadhar, of course, there’re few exceptions.. America America was heroine oriented movie and he was not exatly a hero there.. Amrutavarshini also was more of Suhasini movie than Ramesh movie. I haven’t seen Ulta Palta, O’ mallige, Tuttha Muttha, and Chandramukhi Pranasakhi.. One more multi-starrer example was KurigaLu saar KurigaLu..
Ramesh is one of the best actors kannada industry has ever produced. He should be more careful with the kind of roles he chooses.
@Prashanth.. Why do u name only the films that Ramesh has shared the screen with other actors. Why dont u consider his other movies such as Ulta Palta, O’ mallige, Tuttha Muttha, America America, AmruthaVarshini, Chandramukhi Pranasakhi etc. where is the principal hero and has exerted his acting capabilities.
If not multi-starrer movies, Ramesh should at least consider doing movies with veterans like Anant Nag where they also have enough screen space in the movies.
Ramesh is a good actor no doubt.. But he doesn’t have the capability to carry an entire movie on his lone shoulders.. All his hits till date had powerful performances of other stars like Kamal Hasan in RSB, Daisy & Komal in Satyavan Savitri, Vishnu and Soundarya in Apthamitra, Prema & SRK in Nammoora Mandara Hoove..
I like Ramesh. But not sure why is he choosing such films in recent days
