Hoo Movie Review

June 5th, 2010 at 8:58 pm

BT Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)

Hey!!

Hoo-Namitha-Ravichandran A few months ago, Times of India published a bizarre article which stated that a man can increase his lifespan simply by staring at a woman’s bosom for a few minutes every day. Going by that theory, you will live years longer just by watching Hoo as it provides plenty of opportunities for you to live longer on this earth!

Hoo has a Shakeela sized Namitha, whose heart goes Dhak Dhak (our Kanasugara won’t leave anything to imagination, the ‘heart’ is shown with explicit camera angles) whenever she sees Ravichandran. She is accompanied by Pavitra Lokesh, who plays her elder sister, and who too lusts after a big bellied Ravichandran. So we have two sisters ogling after Ravi mama, while a hapless Meera Jasmine plays violin in the sidetracks.

Come on, isn’t there anything else in the film other than Namitha, Pavitra and Jasmine to look at? You may ask. Of course, there is! There is Bullet Prakash, Rangayana Raghu, and Sharan, who continue their ancient brand of comedy for the nth time. And then, there is an overweight Ravichandran, a chess player who spends more time staring at Namitha than the chess board. Interestingly, grapes do not fall on Namitha’s navel this time around as it happens in every Ravichandran film; or may be for her size, Ravi mama would have needed watermelons instead!

Hoo-MeeraJasmine

Actually, Hoo does have a story too. But it’s all buried under the heavyweights like Namitha and Ravichandran who threaten to crush each other with their sheer weight when they fall over each other. Apart from her understandable hatred towards the clothes, Namitha whispers in a low, hushed tone and drops her saree even when inviting her husband to breakfast in full family view in front of children. She kisses her elder sister all over the face and almost ends up molesting her in a song sequence.

That’s Namitha’s role in the film. Meera Jasmine doesn’t have anything like this to do, as she plays Ravichandran’s Pavitravada friend. So she plays violin and weeps appropriately when nobody is exposing on the screen.

The film is rumored to be a remake of Telugu film Vasantham, starring Venkatesh. But that’s unimportant when you consider the bigger picture (nopes, I am not talking about Namitha). What is important is, you have to live longer and prosper in life (again, not in the way Namitha did!) Ravichandran has provided an opportunity for you to do just that.

Long live Ravichndran!

Mr. Ravichandran (so called Kanasugara)…… not able to understand what kind of dream he is dreaming…. not finding any liveliness in his acting, zero energy…… always rolling with heroins at this age…. truly shameful act….. KFI should completely ignore these people who does’nt have any responsibilty after their experience, age and mistakes.

WOW!! What a super review.. people obviously drill such movies.. KFI directors should accept the mistake and correct themselves instead of blaming people..

Good review, today in KFI we need good strong review like this ravichandran still leaves in his olden days.Problem today with KFI is that they just think what ever we give people will watch.
no those days are over now.
i really dont understand why on earth he wanted to do a remake of “vasantham” after almost seven years.

there is no doubt that Ravichandran is one of the best directord ever found in Kannada industry and he brought lot of changes and richness to KFI by his crazy direction and ideas!!! if we see prema loka which he directed at very young age, we can make it out how talented he is!!

but what i feel is nowadays he’s not that much interested in making movies and he’s making them just for sake of money or producers!! seems like he has lost his magic touch!! acting wise he has never improved and he himself knows that he’s not at all a good actor!! undisputedly he is very talented director but he should really make some good movies now leaving same old dull stories!!!

Namitha has acted with Ravi mama earlier in Neelakantha. She was really hot that time. Now her weight is blown out of proportions.

Good review… Ravichandran aims for a different class of people.
I am suprised why it took such a long time to Ravi mama to bring Namitha to KFI

Ultimate review… I couldn’t stop laughing and couldn’t resist posting comment here again ;) “..Meera Jasmine plays violin in the sidetracks…”super description idu…

Ravi mama is easily one of the worst actors in KFI. Even after being in KFI for more than 20 years, he does not know (or have not bothered to learn) about acting/expressions and dialogue delivery. He simply carries a guitar (like gadhe on his shoulders) and sings away. I wonder if he has even tried to play guitar at least once in his lifetime.

Namitha is like Ashok Lyland lorry. Literally heavy screen presence. I wonder why Kerala movie makers have not yet contacted her for their super-duper movies ;)

We need more reviews like this. Waiting for “Thamassu” ;)
