karthik calling karthik [Hindi] Music Review

(2/5) Missed Call!
They donned ‘Don’ with snazzy tunes, got more than a teeny-bopper rocking to ‘Rock On’ and then after briefly waking up Sid, the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio seeming got lost into a slumber-like momentum that buzzes a break of sorts in ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’. More like a ‘sandwich’ break leaving you wondering whether the song-chutney is khatta or meetha. KCK’s six numbers and three remixes are a mix of sleepy, gloomy and lively numbers. Overall, it’s a pretty much unsophisticated, straitjacketed compilation!
Groovy numbers!
Hey Ya!: Nice number with a Dil Chahta Hai feel. One of the best tracks in the album!
Karthik 2.O: Gushing instrumental creativity! Base strings, head-banging beats, pulsing beeps, its Midival Punditz, an Indian-fusion group to the rescue, unleashing some fine instrumental. It is refreshing in not conforming to aam Bollywood istyle.
Boring ones!
Kaisi Hai Ye Udaasi: Boredom unlimited- Kaisi Hai Ye Udaasi could easily top the list of boring numbers.
Uff Teri Adaa: Yet another number that stretches endlessly. Metallic tones, drums and beats don’t make the milieu better.
Karthik Calling Karthik: Title song; KCK begins as a slow number with confusing interludes in Caralisa’s voice. Adding to the commotion is pillow-talk tones of “Karthik, calling Karthik”….. Karthik, why don’t you just take the phone and do away with much of this song!
Jaane Ye Kya Hua: In the signature style of KK, this number flows slowly and easily through high pitches. Far from being an over-the-top number, Jaane Ye Kya Hua is an uninteresting number!
Re-Mixed!
KCK, Hey Ya and Uff Teri Adaa come as remixed versions. KCK remix with a sparse sprinkle of whispers than its original version, sounds good. The other two remixes join their real McCoy versions; Hey Ya-remix is good and Uff….. is sad, bad and terribly boring.
