KFI Does a Bollywood with Multiplexes!
Just when the standoff between the Bollywood film producers and the multiplex owners promised to get spicier than the Bollywood movies themselves, the Kannada film industry has landed itself right into the center of imbroglio with its own share of complaints.
Last Friday, you might have noticed that neither of the big budget films such as Dubai Babu or Taakat were released in multiplexes. Before Friday, the ads for Dubai Babu in the newspapers promptly flaunted the names of PVR and Vision Cinemas, but on the D-Day, these films mysteriously disappeared from the theatre listings.
And the reason for this is the dispute about profit (?) sharing ratio in multiplexes. The Kannada film industry alleges that multiplexes are not agreeing to share revenue with the producers on the basis of occupancy ratios. This means according to the producers, if the revenue falls, it should be proportionately shared between the multiplexes and the producers.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) is said to have been in talks with the multiplex owners and until the issue is resolved, catch the latest flicks in a theatre near your house!

Watching Dubai Babu and Thakkath on Multipexes… comon…. Its time Kannada movies show some standards in the camera division and some maturity in the storytelling division…..Not a single movie of 2009 is worth enough to see in a multiplex….. Its a very sad story…
On the other hand… tamil and telugu churns out hits that are worth watching on the multiplex…. Ayan, Arundathi etc etc….
Kannada cinmea… wake up….
