Love Guru Music Review – What an album Guru!

BT Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Audio Review by Raju Shanbhag

RadhikaPandit-LoveGuru Joshua Shridhar (of Kadhal fame) returns to Kannada after Arasu and his return makes you wonder why he was away from Kannada for so long after all! Love Guru has the creative brilliance of Joshua Shridhar sprinkled all over the album and it’s nice to hear. It may not be appealing to the ears that are used to listening to the standard Kannada music. But if you persist with the album, you will be rewarded with some beautiful tracks that serve your ears for a really long time!

Hudugaata Aadi: Joshua Shridhar opens the album with a beautiful song where it will be hard for you to pick your favorite between singing and instrumentation. Karthik’s voice suits the song well. A beginning that raises the expectations for the album

Minchi Hoyitu: Although well composed, this song does not match the level of expectations raised with the previous song. Not that song is bad; but there seems to be a needling disparity between the lyrics and the tune of the song. Vijay Shankar and Benny do their job neatly.

Ondondu Storygu: What a track! This track breathes an air of freshness among the fetid tunes that rule the Kannada music these days. Joshua Shridhar uses the background music and his singers really well to give a cool feel to the song. The song is hip, it’s happening and it’s melodious!

Romeogalige: This is one of those rare incidents in the album where the lyrics by Prashanth and V. Nagendra Prasad outshine the musical brilliance of Joshua Shridhar. The lyrics are humorous and for a change, you wanna concentrate on the lyrics more than the music. Josh, Benny, Blaze, and Prashanth do a neat job of rendering the song.

Tangali Tandeya: Benny’s nontraditional voice almost blends in with beautiful instrumentation from Joshua Shridhar to make listening to this song a unique, almost state-of-the-art experience. Add this to your favorite’s list; you don’t get such songs in Kannada very often!

Yaaro Kooda: An ordinary track compared to other songs in the album. The song has some interesting instrumentation which reminds you of Khalid’s Didi song. It’s not a copy, but it certainly reminds you of those burkha clad dancers from the Middle East!

A good Album, Wished Tangali Tandeya song was sung by rajesh krishnan/sonu nigam, it would have been in the lines of anisuthide and minchagi, But not a bad voice though..
A good album after a long time
