Manasaare Movie Review

Movie Review By N.Jagadish

Manasaare A story of hearts and brains!

“You are saying that I cured your madness but the whole world is laughing at me, they say I am mad” says Manohar.

“Let them say, let them laugh, what’s the problem?” asks Devika.

Manohar looks at the crowd surrounding him which appears more or less engulfed by the unknown madness that is homogenous among the human species. A pinch of serene smile appears on his face.

“Oh yeah! What’s the problem?” he says.

Some might understand the underlying philosophy and some might get perplexed by it but the truth unveiled on screen prevails off screen even after the end credits of the movie scroll on the screen.

The movie Mansaare, though a love story, attempts to showcase the human behavioral pattern which since time immemorial is conditioned to do same things again and again. And whoever jumps out of the pattern is termed as mad. If you think the concept is tag boring, hold on, the team of Yograj Bhat and company makes it memorial by crispy dialogues, irresistibly humming songs, some surprise performances, good camera work and simple but innovative story and screenplay.

manasaare-aindrita

The movie is all about Manohar (Diganth) who finds the repetitive world boring and wants to tread different path from the human herd. He tries to discover different avenues. But the normal world which is too busy in its day to day activities acts dumb to his inventions and he gets sucked into a world which is termed as abnormal by so called normal world. Manohar tries to escape the mad house but falls in love with Devika (Aindrita Ray) who is also part of that abnormal world. But the vulnerable Devika hates whole male fraternity as they were the people who are responsible for her plight. One fine day Manohar elopes with Devika and the repercussions make the next part of the story.

Diganth in first notable solo lead excels in his role and gives his best performance till date. Aindrita Ray, though has less dialogues, leaves an impact by her vulnerability act, smile and gorgeous looks in the songs. The mad act by some new comers also leaves an impression. In them Raju Talikote with his North-Karnataka dialect scores good points. Achut Kumar, Manjunath Hegde, Nitoo and others perform their roles with ease.

Manoomurthy’s music is the highlight of the movie. The songs with meaningful lyrics by Jayanth Kaykini and YB and excellent choreography by Harsha give pleasant feeling. Though the movie has no rain and plenty of greenery to boost, Sathya Hegde’s photography appears apt to the story line and blooms in full glory in songs.

Yogaraj Bhat with his usual uncanny dialogues and good handling of the script appears truly the captain of the ship. He not only tries to bring the audiences heart into play but also makes them to put their brains into it and for that he must get pat on the back.

Go for it with a fresh mind; you will truly get entertained and think about the world you are living in.

    Hai…
Frankly speaking, the movie is good..acting also. but kelavondu saari jokesgalu, expressionsgalu jaasti annisuthe. Naanu directorravaralli keliokollodu onde…kannadadalli halavaaru kaadambarigalu manasige thumba hathiravaagiruthe. Hinde kooda, ide reeti halavu lekhakara kaadambarigalu moviegalaagi ( for ex. most of the Ananthnaa’s movies) thumbaane hit aagive mathu inthaha moviegaly ella janaru ishta paduva moviegalu aagabahudu.

And, movie maadtheereno nija..songs kooda thumbaane chennagiruthe, kelalu maathra. but nodidre, kelilikke ishta ago songs kooda bejaaraguthe. idakke example, ‘manasaare’ movie. melodious songs, but dances, dressings are not good.

Bere language movies thubaa hit aguthe but ee year kannadadalli kelavondu movies maathra hit (adoo big hit alla) ishta aguthe. why? reason huduko badalu mathe movie maadtheera. swalpa think maadidre, janarige yaava reeti movies-yaava vargada janarige ishta aagabahudu antha decide maadi movie maadidre definitely it will rock.

Please understand and try to make such movies.

Diganth has done very good job after Gaalipatta, its realy upto directars and producers to inspire him to do all kinds of roles.

  19. MOHAN on November 4th, 2009 3:54 pm

    manasare it,s a wonder full movie……………hats of yogaraj bhatt………

  20. Manasaare fan on October 28th, 2009 6:23 pm

Manasaare is unique, expectional, rare, experimental, mindblowing, unconventional movie.Realy its pride of sandalwood and new crown to creativity.

  21. Mahesh on October 26th, 2009 10:38 am

Diganth is semi-feminine.. Especially when he delivers the dialogs.. Tarun too has similar issues in dialog delivery..
Moreover only Ganesh can carry Yograj Bhat’s main character roles with élan. Ideally a director of YB’s caliber should not be having so much star dependency. That is one improvement area for YB.

  22. Kannadiga on October 26th, 2009 9:25 am

    Hi Veera Kannadiga,

Diganth was stupid in his previous movies but not in Manasaare. He has really acted well. He is gud looking and if directors put confidence on him, he can be a gud actor for KFI. He is better than Ajay, Yogish etc.

  23. veera kannadiga on October 25th, 2009 7:39 pm

hey in this movie andrita made suprb role while diganth is stupid in hero role( unfit to be hero, better be a modeler).

  24. Venkatnarayan on October 24th, 2009 11:07 am

Bhat has tried to give different treatment to complex stuff by making it as simple as possible.Diganth is hero but been not able to get the kind of limelight he wanted.Raju role has been highlight for mass audiences and its working out largerly.

  25. Kannadiga on October 24th, 2009 9:42 am

    @Raju,

I agree with most of your comparison with YB’s last 3 movies. But this is the case with all the great directors. See Maniratnam and Yash chopra, we can find lot of similar things in their approach of making movies. All Yash chopra movies are romantic movies(except Deewar) and in all his movies, we can see similar scenes. Manirathnam movies revolves around problems of differrent parts of India. Like Roja(Kashmir), Bombay and Yuva.
But i am not comparing these greats with YB. But KFI need directors like YB. We need neat and fresh movies like Manasaare. Now he has given 3 back to back hits, we can hope differrent approach in his next movie. He can experiment with new things, since pplz like us always there to support YB.

  26. raju on October 23rd, 2009 11:21 pm

Movie is good, but doesn’t deserve 4 stars! YB continues to repeat the same things again even when he has a chance to be different. Like MM and GP, this movie too has a bearded, bored dude who mouths funny dialogues which are deeply philosophical. Like his earlier two movies, here too Sonu Nigam sings a song before the heroin actually falls in love with hero.

Like his earlier two movies, the hero doesn’t have any work to do and like in his earlier movies, the family of the hero is a well meaning but complaining lot. And YB’s fatal attraction to death and destruction continues in this movie too (thankfully only in dialogues). And all the three movies have one hip looking song each which could have been avoided (at least in Mansare)

Dialogues are good. But given his talent, YB could have done so many things differently.

  27. Rajesh on October 23rd, 2009 3:01 pm

really exceptional movie. Aindritha who has one of my fav heroine eventually did well also Diganth. ur pair simply superb

  28. Kannadiga on October 21st, 2009 7:21 pm

I want to tell one thing, this is not only best movie in kannada this year and in India itself. So called big movies like magadeera are all bullshit movies. These kind of movies you can see only in hollywood. Ofcourse there is a sandalwood flavour as well.
Mr. Yogaraj Bhat has come out of Mungaru Male hangover which was very much there in his previous movie Gaalipata.
This movie is a must watch movie for all kannadigas.

And probably the same psychiatrist so that he can indulge you both into group therapy!

  37. Mahesh on October 15th, 2009 4:52 pm

Traces of hysteria is present in both “@intellectual Savitha” and “Savitha”.. I advise both of you should consulat a psychiatrist at the earliest!

  38. @intellectual Savitha on October 15th, 2009 12:45 pm

Seriously Savitha you should have been in that mental hospital,as the film revolves around the same.If u find everyone sorrounding you to be faulty, better consult doctor or psychologist.Kannada industry may not be up to mark with others ,but ya seriously we produce quite good films ,which match upto very high standards.Manasaare, gaalipata n mm all are gems.

  39. Sujith on October 12th, 2009 8:05 pm

Seriously Manasaare is a neatly crated movie and it will not appeal to psedo intellectuals who see vulgarity in kids’ butts….

  40. harish on October 12th, 2009 5:51 pm

this film is good one…there is blend of philosophy, love, comedy.but frankly speaking i think something is missing in the film…i am not criticising the film…still it must have been done better..

  41. Ranjan on October 10th, 2009 7:23 pm

Oh God……… Savitha is desperately looking for your help, please save her; save others when they pray for the same.

  42. Savitha on October 10th, 2009 1:17 am

Seriously, I am shocked at the standards of the kannada movie industry! If a movie by a supposedly great director Yograj Bhat shows these standards, I just cannot imagine how bad the others would be. I am a kannadiga, but really, what happened to the greatness of our films that were so much a part of our lives through the 60′s and 70′s. Why has our intellectual capability decreased to such a minuscle size. Seriously people, are jokes about poop and pee and butt that enjoyable!! Just look at yourselves. I really feel ashamed at the quality of people and hence the quality of movies! God save us!!

  51. VKumar on October 4th, 2009 12:29 am

Namaskara, just got back from watching this movie at Nandini theatre ( Bengalooru ).
My frank opinion that ‘Gaalipata’ was a more enjoyable film !
I have been a fan of Yograj Bhat from the Ranga SSLC days, probably I had expected a bit more from this movie.
Kudos to the camerawork, the locations, the visuals are simply good.
The story line could have been tighter though.

Manasaare is enjobable from dialgues, but Bhat hasent taken care to see that they are fresh and new.Almost all are repetative from his earlier movies.Diganth has tried to copy Ganesh and has failed.Raju is surprise package of movie and his North Karnataka accent are treat to hear.Songs are just ok.Heroine is big setback and also story which is very thin. But good script and technical backups are highlights.

I had been to the movie today and felt really good watching the movie and this movie is by far the best movie of this year. The script is completely new to kannada movies, dialogues are good and it has very good and unadulterated comedy.. Some commendable performances by Diganth, Raju Thalikote and offcourse the writer Pawan as Dollar$…..

Manasaare is masterpiece.Hats off to Bhat he is realy big asset to industry. The story and script is simple but he has tried to include the complex nature of today’s world.Yes nowadays people have one thing in mind and does other one literaly. Its harsh reality of life today without real rapport, relations and long term goals.Diganth tried hard to represent sincere and transparent guy which is very rare under prevailing circumstances. But he must have avoided Ganesh’s type of dialogues(typical bhat categary).
