Mungaru Male to be remade in Hindi!

July 12th, 2009 at 11:13 am

MungaruMale Mungaru Male(2006), a simple love story taken to phenomenal heights by Yograj Bhat’s unique narration is going to be remade in Hindi. Its a good news for the Kannada movie lovers who are fed up of remake epidemic led by Darshan, Yogish, and Upendra in KFI.

The remake rights are bought by Sridevi’s hubby, Boney Kapoor. Boney Kapoor, once a big producer lost all the steam after the super flop of Roop Ki Raani Choron Ka Raja and have been feeding on remakes since then. But the man who hit the jackpot of nearly Rs.1 crore from this deal is Dayal Padmanabhan! Dayal had bought MM’s remake rights just few days after its release. Though his film-making skills are limited, his trade skills for spotting a gem and acquiring the same are worth appreciation!

The star cast of the Hindi version is not finalized yet. Either Imran Khan (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na) or Ranbir Kapoor (Deepika padukone’s beau) might replace Ganesh. The movie would be directed by National Award winning director-cinematographer Santosh Sivan. Historically south superhits have failed to impress Hindi audience with very few exceptions like Ghajini, Saathiya(remake of Alaypayudhe) and Shiva. Moreover Santosh Sivan is yet to find success in Bollywood as all his Bollywood flicks have turned out to be duds at box office. It’d be interesting to see how Bollywood would take this Mungaru Male remake as MM’s Telugu version had failed to create any impact in AP.

Mungaru Malle Story was a normal story, The songs by kaikini, music by manomurthy and the narration by yograj was awesome which made it a huge hit.The movie got lots of marketing thanks to the internet media which KFI never used before. The Movie brought a new life to KFI, Directors and producers started thinking of the quality of songs in movies now we have atleast 2 hit songs in the movie, even though the movie will be a dud.
It would be good if ganesh and preetam gubi come out of this rain and the rabbit, The same thing cant repeat all the time….

Its funny that Gubbi and Goldy think that MM was such a big hit because of just mansoon rains and rabbit :)

Mungaru male is a conglameration of Manomurthy’s music, which created a new wave in kannada music and Yograj Bhat’s great narration and a new cheerful face of ganesh.
Remake would never make a big success, unless the above said combination is remade :)
Oh .. sorry I forgot the place .. Yes.. the remake should be shot in the same place as well !
