Is the magic of Hamsalekha fading away? After listening to the album Nammejamanru, which is an exercise in itself barring a couple of songs, we felt that way. It’s sad to see one of the finest musicians in the Kannada film industry dishing out such an insipid album. Of course, lyrics and music is good in a couple of tracks; but they are nowhere as good as the ones we heard in Hamsalekha’s glory days. Not a good album to listen to!
Dundu Bhoomige: Hamsalekha, the great master of yesteryears who brought a whole new dimension to the Kannada film music, is struggling in the changed scenario. As he tries unsuccessfully to adapt to a new style of music, Dundu Bhoomige, which has a reasonably good track, is lost in the unnecessary beats and unwanted technical touches. Its ok Hamsalekha Sir, we still love you for what you are! Hamsalekha’s old favorites SPB and Chitra do their best to save this ordinary song.
Vadhu Varare: Oh, what a noise pollution! Really, is this the same Hamsalekha whom we held on par with any of the music directors in the country once upon a time? Seriously, this alleged song does not have any resemblance of a tune. It looks as if a group of people are chatting happily and some adamant musician is playing some instrument in the background. Somebody please ask him to stop!
E Mouna: Finally, a song that resembles the genius in Hamsalekha. Mind it, it only resembles the Hamsalekha of yesteryears, it does not actually match the quality of music he delivered every Friday in the late 90s. Also, the lyricist in Hamsalekha wakes up from the slumber to write some catchy words. Badri Prasad, Chitra, and Anuradha Bhat render the song well.
Ninne Ratri: Hamsalekha opens this song with a beautiful line, “Ninne Ratri Nila Gaganadi Chukki samteye” and your hopes are rekindled with this one simple line. Hamsalekha does not disappoint. The lyrics of this song are vintage Hamsalekha. While they tug at you with their mischief filled lines, the unexpected surge of melancholy takes you by surprise at many moments. SPB completes this song with his delightful rendering. By the way, the song ends with the line, “Indu Ratri Bhava Gaganadi, Ninna chinteye.”
Gombe Mari: Although this song is not exactly great, the slow beats and soothing voice of Hemanth make it worth listening to. You may like after a couple of listening. Stick to Ninne Ratri until then!
Enayite?: Hemanth keeps the Gombe Mari down and goes after a girl who has probably ditched him recently. And unknowingly, this song makes you remember a song from PremaLoka, Mosagarana Hridaya Shoonyana. Any day, any time, we prefer to listen to that classic from Prema Loka.
E Hridaya: We wouldn’t have complained one bit even if Enayite was the last song in this album! E Hridaya is another addition to the countless maze of the songs where people will get up and go for loo breaks when it is being played in the theatre. Forget about it.

Nammejamanru movie alli ondu song ide vadu varare ee song shooting agiddu mysore alli so thumba khushi aguththe because iadaralli kurudana maduve aguththe adu nane ee chance kotta hamsalekha sir and nagabharana sir ge dhanyavadagalu.
3 songs are nice.. other 4 are crap.. deserves at least 2-1/2 stars.
Ee mouna, Ninne Ratri, and Dundu Bhoomige are good..
Hams and Vishnu is losing their foothold in the industry. This disappointing album and the damp curiosity this movie has created shows it.
