Stuck in Mid-Life Crisis!

NandaMusic Director: V. Manohar

Lyrics: Jayanth Kaikini

As time trudges on and a person reaches his mid-forties, it is very often sensed as ‘mid-life-crisis’. Nanda seems to be a result of this all-familiar predicament. Both Jayanth Kaikini and Manohar, pour out mundane lines and tunes in all the five numbers of Nanda. Though not categorically calamitous numbers, none of the tracks boast of originality or novelty.

Chingaari Chingaari [Singer: Vijay Prakash]: Chingaari extinguished! This Chingaari-college life number neither gives you the feel of college life nor the sparks of youthful exploits. The number from start to stop is unadorned and unembellished. Oh Yes! Must warn you though, there are some fiendish rap-like beats bang in the middle of the song. If Manohar failed to splutter a few Chingaaris, he managed a splitting head.

Aakasa Aagale [Singers: Rajesh Krishnan, Nanditha]: Lyrics by Jayanth Kaikini on Aakasa-Bhoomi in Rajesh Krishnan and Nanditha’s peerless voices is rhapsody gone amiss. The plainness of tunes engulf all around. Another one that is lost in the dust!

O Idenaytu [Singer: Keshav Krishna]: Idenaytu, truly voices the plight of both the singer and the listener. Once again O Idenaytu reminds us that musical maestros are not always tailored with time. The song bears the melancholy of the situation including the riotous whoosh of the storm in the background, so much so it sticks to formula. Listeners want the cake with the icing! Listening Manohar and Kaikini…..

Yaava Kadegu [Singers: Chinmayee, Akanksha Badami]: A slow romantic duet about ‘Prema Kavyas’ laced with the sentiments of the Manasu, Yaava Kadegu could have been much better. Akanksha Badami’s throaty and sweet voice seems desolate and adrift making you wonder Yaake ee Haadu!

Ninna Kangalalli [Singers: Udit Narayan, Akanksha Badami]: Another formula number! Ninna Kangalalli has the rhythm and an all familiar beat that is not too harsh on the ears. But then if your ears have got accustomed to good music, I don’t think you will hear this one out!
