Pancharangi – Yogaraj Bhat’s New Film
When you have given three hits on the trot, even a mundane task such as finding a name for your film makes it to headlines. After giving hits such as Mungaru Male, Gaalipata and Manasare, anything Yogaraj Bhat says or does becomes news these days. The latest buzz in Gandhinagar is that the man has named his new film as Pancharangi, which will star his blue-eyed boy Diganth, who will be the leading lad of Pancharangi.
But it seems YB sees repeat value only in heroes and not in heroines. In fact, he has not repeated either the heroines or the cameramen for any of his film till now. While Krishna handled the camera in Mumgaru Male, Ratnavelu took up the mantle in Galipata, which was given to Satya Hegde in Manasare. In Pancharangi, Tyagu will handle the camera.
Also, when it comes to heroines, YB seems to take a leaf out of his friend’s Suri’s scripts! Earlier, he worked with Aindrita Ray (did we spell that right?) in Manasare, who had worked with Suri in Junglee before. Now, YB has selected Sonu, who had earlier worked with Suri in Inti Ninna Preethiya. Sonu, who sizzled on screen in the recently released Police Quarters is going places with a few offers form Tamil and Telugu industries and this big offer from YB.
But the leading lady of the film is the hot and happening Nidhi Subbaiah who made her debut with Komal’s Chamkaisi Chindi Udaisi. Pancharangi will have music from Mano Murthy. The film will be shot mostly in the coastal areas of Karnataka and deals with various aspects of life.

This is actually a very pathetic situation… No movie is actually making big in the box office! I am not just talking about Kannada movies… not even other markets are doing as big as they used to or they have to, considering their vastness or reach. One thing I should say here is please don’t compare two people… its actually childish… Mr. Maniratnam is of different era… he donned the commercial film industry for years now… Mr Yogaraj Bhat has just begun… and he has a very long way traverse as yet…. lets wait and see…

I liked MM,Gallipata…but seriously disliked Manasaree..it is like one serial ..and story was very pale…..i really failed to understand u r conclusion at the end of the film….
lookin forward a strong scropt with best acting and u r talent is enough to give it light touch …but please select a script which flavours our ideas ……not same old same dialogue,no rain please ….show us new colours of nature other than green…..looking forward for u r Panchrangii with fresh entertainment ….Good luck sirrr ………

Come out with different stories, your last 3 movies revolving around the same locations. A good director cannot stick to same story lines. Try with other subjects.

I donno what mr bhat was thinking when he signed nidhi subbaya or is it nidhi subbaiah. She is such a terrible terrible actor and dancer. Maybe she agreed to work for free as afterall its his home production and he is having a limited budget. Or maybe she did him some favours…ha ha
Bhat tried to show modern day problems–complex relations,relations without rapport…in Manasaare and tried to make it as simple as possible.But some of the factors like dialgoues were repetitive.
He must come out of MM hangover in mannersims of hero and some dialgoues wrt women.
Here title essentialy means 5 colours,which in the local dialect is used in diff contexts.One can expect humour and witty dialogues here,but sincerely hope its not like his previous movies.

A movie’s success depends on so many factors and reflects the taste of the audience. Especially director should get good scripts. Without a good storyline a director can’t make it success..

YB’s movies are atleast worth watching for the awesome cinematography. After puttanna kanagal – few movies have captured the beauty of karnataka as done by YB’s (ever changing) crew! Also, I feel manasare was a bit different from MM and gaalipata.. but getting a bit stereo-typed!

@Kumar, I agree with ur point tht it all depends on a director’s talent.. But I doubt whether YB has that talent or at least there is no evidence of it. If you see his three hit movies(MM, GP, and Manasare), all are hero-dominated movies and the characterization of hero is stereotyped. Its the same character who goes thru different circumstances. All his heroes are workless wonders who keep on belting witty cynic dialogs about life. Thats what YB conceives as heroism and its very limited in scope and likely to go outdated soon.
I bet bhat can do a film [with or without shivraj] on machu/long/tangi affection etc and it could stil run it for 100 days…my opinion is that it all depends on directors talent and how the product [movie] turns up to be

Super! YB is one of the fewest sensible and intelligent directors remaining in KFI.
