There are films that create lot of hype without substance and then, there are films that go about the business of improving the standard of KFI in their own quiet way. Looking at the stills and promos of “Police Quarters,” we have a feeling that the film belongs to the second category. After making critically acclaimed Cyanide, director A. M. R Ramesh made a horrible Minchina Ota which was panned by the critics and ditched by the public. But looking at the stills and promos of “Police Quarters,” he seems to have found his lost form and returned to his favorite genre of realistic movies which seems to bring out the best in him.

Expecting realistic movies in KFI is almost an unrealistic expectation. The ones that claim to be realistic movies need a fast reality check. In such a scenario, let’s see whether A.M.R. Ramesh manages to give a good quality film that is nearer to the real life and is still engaging. The movie stars Inthi Ninna Preethiya girl Sonu, Anis Thejaswar, Avinash, and Saranya of Maniratnam’s Nayagan fame in the cast. The fim is ready for release and is expected to hit the theatres soon (Jan 2010).
