Prithvi Music Review

April 12th, 2010 at 12:52 pm

BT Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)

Uniquely Tuneful!

Prithvi The famed director-composer duo of Jacob Varghese and Manikanth Kadri is back with Prithvi and this time around, they have one of the most bankable stars in the industry for company. But it’s nice to know that this team of director and composer has not caved into the pressures of delivering a typical Puneeth Rajkumar album. They have charted their own course and there is an unmistakable Manikanth Kadri touch in almost all the songs.

Although Prithvi is not a great album, it’s a nice album and yes, it’s unique.

Hejjegondu Hejje (Tippu, Shwetha, Mohan): You will have to take a few devoted steps with this song before you make friends with it. But a few dedicated listening later, you will begin to appreciate the niceties of rhythm that is encapsulated in the track. And hey, Tippu’s voice suits Puneeth perfectly, doesn’t it? The remix version is loaded with drums and Benny Dayal and both are equally noisy.

Nenapidu Nenapidu (Karthik, Shruthi Hasan): Shruthi Hasan lends her voice to this peppy track and her voice is as luscious as her looks. Karthik is not bad either, making this song worth listening to. Unfortunately, K Kalyan’s lyrics are not worth remembering!

Ku..Ku..Kogileyinda (Rajesh Krishnan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Padmashri Kadri Gopalnath): One word; forgettable!

Prithvi-Puneeth

Ninagende Visheshavada (Kunal Ganjawala, Hammsika Ayer): What a song! Manikant Kadri takes the path less traveled in terms of instrumentation and tune, and yet comes up with a song that casts a spell on you in the very first listening. Jayant Kaikini’s playfully meaningful wordings and the bubbly voices of Kunal Ganjawala and Hammsika Ayer are just what the composer ordered! Worth buying the album for this song alone. There is also a very good instrument version of this song.

Haagella Ni (Harisharan, Anitha): Quintessential Manikanth Kadri! At the outset, the song seems to flow with unruffled serenity, without much of instrumentation. But in his characteristic style, Manikant Kadri weaves so many sounds of instruments in the song and yet, they simply add up to the tranquility instead of playing spoilsport. Good track.

Jagave Ninadu (Benny Dayal, Asif Akbar, Sindhuja, Raja Ramji): Ah, did we speak to soon? The drums are back and so are a bunch of dudes who lend their unrecognizable voices to this track. Sure the song is meant to egg you on to reach some sort of goal and the singer brigade won’t rest until they achieve their goal. Yet, Mankant Kadri manages to come up with a semblance of a tune, and guess what, you may actually like it after you see the film!

No doubt Manikanth is a good music director but he has to be fair and sincere to all movies he plays the tunes. Some of his other movies – the one with Mahesh Sukhdhare and Ijjodu donot have good music. In that sense V Harikrishna and Arjun are the only two who is fair in all work they do. cheers to them.

Dear Raju, there is a correction in ku ku kogile…. line. You have mentioned Padmashree Gopalrao’s name. Who is Gopalrao? I think its Padmashree Kadri Gopalnath- well known saxophonist- who is the father of Manikanth Kadri. Pls check.

i do agree wid surya n pavan……..superb songs in prithvi…………..no ver its compared tu hoo songs..plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…next tym think n rate…plzzzzzzz use yo brainsssssss…

  23. Pavan Kumar.S on April 12th, 2010 4:29 pm

I would rate it at 3.75/5……. As Surya said, it s far far better than Hoo songs…. Music is totally different from the earlier movies of Puneeth. The rhythms are prefectly tuned. A true music lover will fall in love wit the songs (atleast 4 out 6 songs) as he listens the songs.. overall a nicely carved out album much to the delight of Puneeth’s Fans…. hope the coreography has come out wel….

  24. Gowtham on April 12th, 2010 2:14 pm

Again a good album from a puneeth’s film. Waiting eagerly for this movie.

  25. surya on April 12th, 2010 1:40 pm

Again perfect review from raju as my opinion. But its not comparable with HOO movie audio, because he has given 3/5 for both movie songs :O . Prithvi songs are far better than HOO movie songs.

Got something to say?
