Psycho

June 18th, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Psycho Being different and acting different are two completely different things. The latter generally fall into gimmick or publicity stunt category. The makers of Psycho have decided to keep the actors names as secret until the release!! The names of the all background crew has been revealed. One way, its good as the background crew is getting it’s due.

The film was launched more than an year back(April 2007) and shooting also had started during the same time(May 2007). Of course, this is also something different as Kannada movies generally do not take so much time for shooting barring Pooja Gandhi’s movies!

Raghu Dixit has scored the music for this movie. Lyrics are penned by Late. R.N. Jayagopal, Jayanth Kaikini, Raghu Dixit, and the director Devadatta.V himself.

Psycho Music Review: Refreshingly Different!!!

By Raju Shanbhag

Composer and lyricist Raghu Dixit is all over the virtual world. He has a web site in his name, has a blog and another Raghu Dixit Tribe, or something similar to that. Even in his debut Kannada film album, he composes, sings and writes the songs, almost a one man show if it weren’t for the veteran lyricists like RN Jayagopal and Jayanth Kaikini. But we are not the ones to complain! What matters is the music, and Raghu Dixit introduces a strikingly different sound to this film, which had never been heard in Kannada films before(Of course, with the exception of Sadhu Kokila’s Inthi Ninna Preethiya). The sound of Psycho is refreshing and amazing. Enjoy!

Psycho

Psycho Theme: Music director Raghu Dixit makes a melodious and soothing Arrangetram to a weird named movie with this theme track. The reverberating sound of flute throughout the song is both unique and beautiful. A good beginning.

Beladingalante Minuguta: Raghu Dixit harmoniously blends his urge to experiment with tranquilizing melody in this song. Continuing from where he left in the previous song, he treads further ahead in the scintillating journey of melody here. The song has a pleasing quality to it and very much unlike the Kannada film songs we get these days. Singers Haricharan and Saindhavi do full justice to the song.

Eno Ide: Lyricist Jayanth Kaikini blames all the elements of nature, right from the sky, moonlight and night for the failure of the love. As composer Raghu Dixit makes a strained singing debut with this song holding everyone guilty for no apparent reason, the title and the subject of the film appear clearer and more threatening!

Mussanje Rangalli: If the previous three songs were doused with heavy western influence, composer Raghu Dixit shows his taste for classical music with this song. And guess what? He scores classically well with this song! Also, this song reminds us of that wonderful lyricist who recently left us with refreshing memories of his songs, RN Jayagopal.

Ee Tanuvu Ninnade: From classical to clandestine! Although this song is breathtakingly unique for the Kannada scene, the influence of western rock bands is evident all throughout the song, especially the likes of Scorpions, Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi. But if you are willing to overlook trivial matters of inspiration behind, you’ll love the arresting quality of this number.

Ninna Poojege: Lord Mahadeshwara gets a taste of western music, courtesy Raghu Dixit. But Raghu Dixit might be granted his deepest wishes by the almighty lord because the song is enchanting. But can someone please tell us how two people can write one song together? It’s almost blasphemy to V. Manhoar who is perfectly capable of churning out good songs all by himself. What is Raghu Dixit’s name doing in the lyricist column?

Preetiya Manashantiya: The western fragrance in the sandal wood! Raghu Dixit entwines the western tune with the lyrics that praises Namma Kannada Nadu. The song has unique touch of Raghu Dixit and distinctive lyrics from Jayanth Kaikini. Of course, Raghu Dixit’s name is again splashed prominently in the lyricist’s column.

hello raghu dixit u feel ur one man show????? its really iriitating and cheap gimic, if the movie is really come out good then u need to promote the movie wit such elements and not only wit one song…… we r here to watch movies looking at the dirrector’s talent and wit actors performance and not under influence of a music director u can not become a HERO mind it. i ask the other viewers and readers to comment on tis ,i feel these guys r just making some sort of gimic and fooling the kannada audience ……..

  8. Raghu.M.C on August 22nd, 2008 8:58 am

A new genre of songs as far as kannada movies are concerned alright! Good music. Hope they didn’t go all out on music and are depending on it solely for the movie to be a hit!

  9. satish on August 22nd, 2008 8:30 am

Maybe these guys had made just an album faking that its a movie.. And once the album became a hit, then they must have started making the movie.. Thats why despite so many months after the audio release, movie has not released yet. And thats why the drama of keeping actors names a secret. They themselves didnt know the actors :)

  19. asking second time on June 19th, 2008 10:12 am

pls remove the Hindi Movie Reviews links column (right side of every page)from kannada zone.

  20. Satish on June 19th, 2008 9:11 am

There was one more kannada movie called “Shubham” in 2005 whose music was drasticlly different like this Psycho and INP and was better than typical kannada movies. The music was given by Gurukiran. Though “yaarivanu” song was heavuily influenced by Bon Jovi, it was good. Unfortunately movie turned out to be a big bore and bombed in the boxoffice.

Raghu Dixit has so much talent for music that he doesn’t need so much show off. Such show off is generally required for people who lack talent.. He doesn’t need to be everywhere and restrict himself to the areas where he’s good in, like music..

  22. satyappa on June 19th, 2008 6:43 am

All Songs are good and all songs are my Fav. I can’t express my opinion, U people have to Listen and Listen and Listen…. U will not get Bore by listing these songs, after MM, Gaalipata, Accident etc.
Please discourge Copycat songs and encourge new and original songs and bring Kannada Music at top.
Hats off to Raghu Dixit, for giving such wonderful, beautiful Music and Songs. We want people like Raghu Dixit, V Harikrishna, Neel, Ricky Kej and ofcourse Manumurty(Stero type of Music Director, no change in his rythm and song sytle)in KFI.

  23. chinmay on June 19th, 2008 12:43 am
