Rocking music!

Rocky is an in-toto singer’s album. The prize of this collection is the lucid clarity of vocal dexterity. And of course, the credit is to be shared with entire musical team. While there is nothing extraordinarily outstanding in the album, it will not be surprising if you want to hear it out a few more times. For this Venkat-Narayan has been intelligent enough not to wear you out. But then like I said before, it is the entourage of singing koels and SPB that takes the cake!

Manase Manase: ‘Manase Manase yaake manase aniso haage nee saagodu’ has the golden voice of Sonu Nigam crooning with a tinge of philosophy mingled-in-with melodrama. The raw energy that exudes from Sonu Nigam’s already popular Sandalwood voice in combination with the lyrics by Hari Shringa will stir you. The mellowed hum as the song concludes can rake up a ‘manasu’ feeling!

20-20 Balle Balle: A bang bang number this is! Venkat-Narayan keeps the 20-20 pace right through the number. A lot of insights of the 20’s something- boundary illada vayasu are thoughtfully tossed in – mobile in hudugi’s kieye - reason for huduga’s cardiac puncture. Bang Bang to rules and regulations!

Snehada Chiguru: Not merely a tribute to sneha, Snehada Chiguru is a grand compliment to the finesse of SPB’s deep rousing voice in-combo with Priyadarshini’s crystal clear intonation. The song twirls on answers that Priyadarshini queries on sneha. Probably the best song of the album!

Kareyale Ninna – I: Kareyale Ninna in the voice of Hariharan crying out from the bottom of his heart, ‘Kareyale Ninna nanna kanasina aramanege’. Jayant Kaikini’s lyrics retain richness as he deliberates on matters of the heart.

Kareyale Ninna – II: The background beat and on a higher pitch, Kareyale Ninna-II dims the previous version. Here too there are the kannasu’s and the kare’s. Both these numbers are good but do not stand out. At least not as exceptional ones!

1-2 Ring Ring: This ‘rocking’ number is peppy, beaty and foot-rapping. Again, 1-2 ring ring is not outstandingly created musical proficiency. Especially now that ‘rapping’ and ‘rocking’ is almost become Sandal’s routine fusion-mix! But then, like the rest of the album, its Karthik’s metalized voice that gives body to the song.

Olla: By now, I am sure new-age technology has definitely influenced Santhosh Kumar the writer of this number. Or wonder if the writers inspired each other! After the 20-20 cricket number and the ring-ring telephone one; Olla is about digital cell and the likes of recent times. Kunal Ganjalwala’s Olla is pitched well in some slightly salsa-ish taps!

I liked the song snehada chiguru guys! Its sounds so fresh and clear. The female voice is amazing. Of course SPB rocks too! The questions of female lead is simply superb. Great going Venkat & Narayan! This is the best song in the album! The rest are same mass songs and Manase Manase is just average.

    I heard the songs.
Snehada chiguru should have been sung by some one younger than SPB. Ofcourse his vocals are amazing. But still it sounds a bit stale compared to Priyadarshini’s clear and fresh voice.
