Swayamvara Movie Review

March 21st, 2010 at 11:43 am

BT Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)

Not Much of a Choice!

Smayanvara Your heart goes out for Sharmila Mandre when you watch Swayamvara. The lass has lost considerable weight, gained a major character in a reasonably important film, and all she gets is to choose between an irritatingly over the top Diganth and an unconvincingly gullible Shrinagar Kitty in this remake Swayamvara.

Truly, brides should have the option of not choosing anyone at all in a Swayamvara!

Director Anantharaju, who is rolling out remakes as if he was born for it, doesn’t leave much of choice to anybody in this remake of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. There are a few genuine laughs in between, but they are as rare as honest politicians in BBMP elections. Most of the gags are stale, and are copied from other films like Kal Ho Na Ho. All the characters overact with the graceful exception of Sharmila Mandre (Ah, my heart still goes out for her!)

If you are a fan of Sharmila Mandre, you can still muster some courage to watch this film for her sake. Both Diganth and Shrinagar Kitty have high profile films coming up, so you can wait until then to watch them. You have already watched Umesh’s character in Golmal Radhakrihsna and Rangayana Raghu and Sudha Belavadi’s characters are highly unexceptional.

In fact, that can be said about the entire film too!

    This site cannot be said as straightforward as most of the reviews are done by a single person. In fact most of the reviews are not liked by the readers. Although readers here get to express what they feel, there is slight amount of active participation required by the moderator. The news remain sporadic here. Readers express true views here..that would be good enough for the film makers to understand what they do and correct themselves. But is any fim maker really logging in here ? *-)

    The reviews on this site are good and honest, its something the directors, actors and producers can read and learn….Apart from BT, other kannada film sites are CRAP,

    Other websites are just filmy chamchas who report like following
    1. “media friends gathered at this occasion”…that is your job idiot, talk about the movie and not ur media friends
    2. “media friends wish well for the fims success”…..are you a reporter or a co-producer?
    3. “one media friend asked several questions and producer/director got confused/scared and fell at the feet of our media friend”…
    4. “media friends gathered and presented a gold locket to xxx producer”…are they reporters or chamchas?

    Also they give funny titles to news reports.. that causes confusion to readers

    @sujith
    It has been deserted because of arrogant comments by the crew of BT, but still i like this website for movie reviews and other news. Here we can get good quality of articles but not more news. It can get more viewers by more news, but not by stunts in commenting area.

    About this movie i don’t know anything . I have to watch.
