Taare Zameen Par remains a star in the sky for Kannada kids!

Recently, the government of Karnataka Education department reportedly decided to bring the Bollywood stars to our Kannada schools. In simpler words, the department was trying to screen the dubbed version (into Kannada) of Taare Zameen Par (TZP) in schools in Karnataka.

But the Okkuta of cinema workers is not amused. If reports are to be believed the Okkuta has been gearing up for a full fledged war against dubbing this Aamir Khan starrer into Kannada, even for a school screening.

Earlier, the Okkuta had vehemently opposed the dubbing of Hindi TV serials such as Ramayana and Tippu Sultan and was successful in stopping the dubbed serials. But here, the time is different; and so is the purpose. While the serials earlier were commercially oriented, this is a government initiative with hopefully no financial gains from the matter.

Also, Kannada film industry will not reach places by stopping dubbing from other languages. Our neighboring states such as Andhra and Tamil Nadu have allowed dubbing films from other languages including Hollywood and still, their industry is in a much better condition than ours. If Okkuta wants to fight against something, let it fight against remakes, and let it fight against producers who spend lacs of rupees to bring heroines from other languages.

The kids of Karnataka and their parents deserve to see a film like TZP in their mother tongue, whether Okkuta likes it or not.
