Umashree bags National Award

Umashree won the national award for her performance in Girish Kasaravalli’s Gulabi Talkies at the 55th National Film Awards for the Year 2007. Yes, you read it correctly. The year 2007’s awards were announced today, 7th Sep 2009.
Gulabi Talkies has also won the “Best Feature Film in Kannada” award. Gulabi Talkies was produced by Basant Kumar Patil and was directed by Girish Kasaravalli.
Santosh Sivan’s Kannada film “Prarambha” won the "Best Educational/Motivational/Instructional Film" award under the Non-Feature films category.
