High Voltage Entertainment!

Vamshi Movie Review By Raju Shanbhag

Vamshi Yes of course! You might have read this tag line before; but chances are, you have seen movies with such stories before too. But like a true high voltage jolt that never fails to shock you even if you touch it every day, Puneeth’s Vamshi never has a dull moment in its two and half hours, even if you have seen countless such dramas before. Who cares about innovation and creativity if the going is so smooth?!

If it was only about the story, Vamshi has absolutely nothing new to offer. The story of a wannabe police officer who turns a rowdy because of the situation is seen before, heard before and forgotten before, notably in Hindi films such as Gardish, starring Jackie Shroff. But Vamshi, ladies and gentlemen, is not about the story. It’s about showcasing the talents of Puneeth with all the ingredients of a commercial film perfectly merged in the main storyline. While the going is gory for most of the film’s length, Director Prakash strategically sprinkles in some mother-son sentiment in the background with Nikitha filling up the glamour quotient and Komal performing the standup comedy act; and bingo! We have a winner in our hands!

Vamshi works because of fine performances from almost every lead actor. From veterans like Lakshmi to seasoned performers such as Ravi Kale and Komal, all do a neat job playing second fiddle to Puneeth. Apart from the untimely placement of songs, which interrupts the flow of the story every now and then, director Prakash handles the sequences well, be it emotional scenes or be it serious sequences.

Vamshi

You must be a diehard Puneeth fan to accept many of the scenes in the movie on their face value. But you won’t think about them much in the theatre because in that dark room at that moment, the show belongs to Puneeth, and he uses it well to establish himself as one of the leading actors in Karnataka today.

Even when you look at the film from typical commercial point of view, Vamshi has its own pitfalls which could have been avoided. Komal’s comedy sequences, which although are tolerable, are completely unnecessary for the main story. Couple of songs (Bhuvanam, and Thaayi) is shot well, but others are simply a bane in the film. Also, it’s hard to believe that a rowdy, however powerful he is, can threaten a senior police officer at his will.

But the film is perfectly watchable because of one man, Puneeth. If Vamshi was a platform to showcase Puneeth’s talents, the man has done no injustice to the faith showed in him by the makers of the film. He emotes well, looks every part of a tough cookie, dances well and his fighting skills are among the best in the business, even though they look a bit unbelievable at times, thanks to brazen attempts by the director to glorify Puneeth. No wonder the man is in huge demand as leading filmmakers like Yogaraj Bhat want to work with him at every given opportunity.

Watch Vamshi if you are a Puneeth fan; watch it even if you are not, because you will surely be a Puneeth fan after watching this movie!

i feel vamshi, a movie which touches the true heart, i dont know, what was the thing, atleast 20% of above people were disappointed for?

the movie is excellent compared to all other movie which is in its row, when compared with other languages also.the mother sentiment, believe me people, you can only know that feel and pain ,when you don’t have a mother.

the movie is projected amazingly well. so much to learn from the movie, i dont see a single review which talks about the good thoughts of movie, apart from criticising things.

Surely Vamshi is a old wine in new bottle…But ther is something more which is the talents of puneeth n lakshmi..Both do justice to take the movie in successline….
Songs r superb…Jothe jotheyali n amalu song shot very well….Vamshi is a movie to the mass….Rowdism is not high lighted in the movie…its the society which takes the wise person to rowdism….but ultimately without his wish he was dragged to the cruel world….situations in life makes person to any height, this movie is jus one of it….no person is born as bad in this earth…This is wat the movie somewhere projects…

@Ramya – U may be the lady from the urban, but think about the lady from a village…the situation of lakshmi in the movie projects the helpless situation which she as faced in her early age…Also its the mother which protects her son to go in the right line not the father..being a female respect the mother character….its all bout the mother-son sentiment….Feel it…..

Komal comedy is good though not required for the story…
Definitely vamshi is a high voltage movie….Overall the movie is good….Puneeth n Lakshmi Rocksssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss…Kudos to whole team….

i watched vamshi with a lot of expectations but was thoroughly dissapointed… i never expected a film like this from dr. rajkumars home banner…. although the team had a good story prakash fails in providing a good screenplay and the feel is very lengthy…. but it s only the fine performances that keeps the film alive…. the film has shades of many films shich have come in the past… vamshi could have been written in a better way… its seems to be aproduct made in hurry….music and choreography along with cinematography is good but this time prakash has failed to give a memorable film and dissapointed many…. rajkumars home banner has always given quality films consistently…. we would expect hte same everytime…..
    Well Wisher

Puneeth Rocks. Film is good to watch. But it is worth watching puneeth fights and dances. I dont think, any one in indian film industry could match Puneeth fighting skills.

Hats off to puneeth. A proud son of great father

Bellitere, a special article about Milana’s controversial stay at PVR is a must.
People should know how Milana reached 365 and has continued to stay there. Please throw light on this.

Vamshi , though a old wine in new bottle has all the ingradients to appease both classes and masses and the box office collections in first four days indiacte that its a winner.

Yes Raj banner is known for films with good messages and Vamshi is no exception (After all they have selected a rowdy subject after a long gap of about 20 years ). And the climax of Vamshi (Who reforms and shows him teaching to children ) it self shows that Vajreshwary people has not forgotten there tradition.

And Vamshi does not glorify rowdiesm, in fact Vamshi as a rowdy element has been shown in only few scences…in rest of the film it has been clearly shown that he wanted desperately become a police officer.

And as a commercial film…Indeed Vamshi is a high voltage drama which never fail to entertain you even if you had seen such stories 100 times before…

Go and see Vamshi….Punith shows that he is the best in the business…!!!!

After watching Vamshi, its damn sure that anyone become a gr8 FAN of this actor. Puneeth surely at his best after Milana….No doubt in that…He is one of the phenomenal actor who has all the ingredients for entertaining the audience like how venkatesh does in telugu. It is his presence makes the movie definitely watchable. All the songs are picturised very well & Gr8 action too. Vamshi is far better than any of the movies released in recent times . Hey ppl no doubt its a paisa vasool….Do not miss it :D …Have faith in kannada movies and it will not let u down after watching this movie :) Power star really ROCKSSS……

  21. naveen on October 5th, 2008 8:43 pm

Puneeth continues with the flops in a row after bindas, i dont why rajkumar family choose this film its not a puneeth movie. very poor selection of story, stunts is ok songs is not at all good with the out dated music director. film is not even worth for 50 days. I am sure if sangama release, vamshi will be no where. please puneeth be choosy

  22. Ramya on October 5th, 2008 9:16 am

Worst movie… One more rowdism movie.. Never expected this from Dr. Raj banner and from Prakash after Milana…. Puneeth following his brother in machu long type movies……. Vamshi is just below avg to worst movie with nothing new in it….

  23. renal failure on October 4th, 2008 6:37 pm

Such outdated movies are best suited for rural people who do not have access to TV in their life and movies are a new frontier for them…. who manages to earn an extra-income to afford a theatrical watch!! (tent at least).

  24. Dr SURESH on October 4th, 2008 4:58 pm

Dr Raj banner is unique in KFI that they wont produce unnecessary rowdism movies unless the story convincingly justifies the circumstance as in OM. even in VAMSHI punith holds MACHU REVERSE at the start of market fight & he takes law in hand ONLY FOR HIS MOTHER. He again tries to leave rowdism after knowing his mother’s sacrifice. SUPERB MINDBLOWING SENTIMENTAL, ACTION, LOVABLE performances by PUNITH & LAXMI & good acting by RAVI KALE.

  25. ramprasad on October 4th, 2008 2:28 pm

punith’s acting is gud , the fight in the market is excellent…….,story is okk…..,imran’s choreography is excellent……

A true son of the great father! HATS OFF TO puneet… Also Laxmi has acted well…. couldnt have expected the movie to be any better than this… THIS Is PRAKASHs best also Puneets best!

Puneeth Rocks, Vamshi sucks. Action sequences are superb. Songs are excellent specially Jote joteyali.. The second half story sucks. Movie is watchable till the song ‘jote joteyali’ .. Comedy is refreshing by Komal
