Vamshi to Demolish TajMahal?

September 25th, 2008 at 11:54 am

TajMahal We all know that Kannada films have to often fight for theatres for release in the capital city. Often they have to fight against big budget movies from other languages to get a place in the up market multiplexes and prestigious theatres such as Santosh. But this news is a bit more disturbing. As Vamshi is all set for release on Oct. 3 in Santosh, along with other theatres, and TajMahal, which is running successfully in that theatre, will be replaced to make way for Vamshi.

This is sad, because TajMahal was a nice effort by a young team, with debutant director Chandru putting in a decent effort and drawing in crowds. When we spoke to Chandru, he lamented the fact that a successful Kannada film, made by newcomers, is so unceremoniously being flushed out of the theatre to make way for a big banner film. The producer of the film has already had his fill and is not much interested in pushing this matter; and the distributors do not even show the courtesy to pick up the phone, said Chandru. So, in all likelihood, TajMahal, which was having a collection of around 1.5 lakhs and more per week in Santosh theatre and was well on its way to complete 100 days, is being dumped for another high profile Kannada film. Do we really need such infightings in the industry?

On the one hand, we have the cheeks to ask that other language films should not be released in Karnakata before 7 weeks of their nationwide release. On the other hand, when a Kannada film runs successfully, we kill it by releasing another Kannada film. TajMahal, is one of the rare successes in Kannada in recent times and it exits like this, it is not good for the health of the industry.

May be the problem is not entirely with the producers of Vamshi. Bangalore has few decent theatres which run Kannada films. You will be really lucky if you find Kannada films in multiplexes except PVR. In such a scenario, as Puneet’s films are known to attract family crowd, it’s natural for them to look for a decent theatre to release their movie. But our question is, why do we need to sacrifice a successfully running Kannada film to accommodate Vamshi? The Producers Association, which keeps asking for crazy subsidies, is also sitting pretty on this issue.

Industry people are trying to find a solution for this problem, and we will be in touch with the TajMahal team to get you the latest update on this issue by tomorrow.

fact is pooja gandhi’s presence has made Tajmahal a so called hit, ajay has nothing to do,if anybody thinks he is a great actor better test your mind,he has been giving out flop films one after another, talent only matters nobody is paying the crowd to watch their films to make it a hit.Milana was successful because it appeals very well to this generation when divorce rates are increasing,if everyfilm could be pushed then we would have hardly 5 films in a year.Rajkumar was the sole hero who took on greats like MGR,shivaji,NTR,amitabh etc…..and gave great movie which were remade into other languages with these great heroes. From 1954 to 1974 he was the person who held the Kannada industry in a respectable position, till Vishnuvardhan arrived. It is unimaginable to think of kannada film industry without these two great actors. What else is left without them.many people have tried to become heroes by force, you have to be accepted by everybody to be a hero, empty minds make more nuisance.

Hemant… do u mean to say that even Mungaaru Males run also raises eyebrow… it was the same case with that movie as well… it ran only 1 show — morn show in the same PVR (As far as my knowledge goes there is only one is Blore) and for 1 yr and was removed jus after that…
Note… Milana is still going on!

  3. Murali on October 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm

I donno some ppl’s r always talk againest Raj family… if any one respect kannada industry d credit shd go to Raj family .. as mentioned by bellitere its not pblm of appu it’s pblm of less theatres in karnataka wat dey can do … i want to highlight one thing Raj family or our appu always trying to give good movies to KFI by selecting good stories not like others making movies only for money.

  4. Hemanth on October 1st, 2008 3:07 pm

Coming to Milana’s 1 year completion at PVR,its very hard to believe that it ran so long in that multiplex.May be the film was good for running towards 25 weeks but due to deficit it was moved out of Meneka Theatre(Originally released in Majestic theatre) after pushing it for 24 weeks.First of all most of the kannada audiences prefer going to single screen theatres since ticket prices r high at multiplexes and Milana out of all its shows ran for most part of the year in morning show slots(PVR) ie around 10:20am.Its impossible to believe kannada audiences(to some extent non kannada audiences) going to watch milana at 10:20am for a year that too at PVR, Koramangala.Every kannada BuffS are rising their eye brows saying whether the film makers had booked this movie to run for Year(minimum) in that multiplex.

go to Santosh and check the # of people urself…. When I had been to TM on Aug 31st at Santosh for 1.30Show…. there were hardly 40% occupency (Note 31st was a Sunday)
stop barking… jus visit the theatre urself and find out and then speak!
But the fact! Do you guys really feel Ajay has any talent to be suppressed? Watch the movie urself and PLS Comment… Also then how come Raj family allowed Aptamitra, MM, CC and other many more non RAJ sons movies to run for more than 100 days? 25 weeks???
Why has all Shivraj movies not made to run for 100 days? (As u guys say)
Why are all Puneet movies not made to run for 25 Weeks?
How come Raghavendras movies not made to run for 100 days? After all they want records!!!!!!
    Pls stop this BS

THIS IS NOT TO SUPPORT ANYONE….

  6. lakshmi on September 29th, 2008 7:11 pm

bellitere is going to make controversy and money using this issue. don’t blame or comment on puneeth and his family for this issue…….its clear that hear bellitere was wrote this article in the favour of tajmahal team……no one can stop if tajmahal running very successfully but it is not running good…..even the movie also not very good……….vamshi will run successfully ……….

  7. ajay on September 29th, 2008 8:36 am

Anyone who has watched TAJMAHAL will easily say that this movie is not worth than 30-40 days. So, whatever it is running is just a bonus. ANd also for these type of bogus reporters, the people of karnataka will teahc them a lesson. BTW Mr Shanbagh there are lot of goodways to [popularise ur website, dont indulge urslef in these cheap gimmicks of saying something bad about Dr. Rajkumar and his family.

  8. Shivayogi on September 29th, 2008 8:30 am

A non issue is being blown out of proportion to make a big issue to create a plat form and allow some RAJ family haters spit venum againts the premium family.

It happened during the release of ARRASU also . But no body cares when a Shivaraj and Punith films are unjustifiably removed from theatres.

And they are talking about monopoly and killing of talent from last 50 years….and from last 50 years people are teaching Raj family lessons my making them biggest grossers from time to time. Thats the difference between a common cinegoer and a suedo intellect cosmo kannadiga who thinks that criticizing Raj family for all and sundry happenings of KFI is HS.

For a family which is there in KFI from 50 years grown with it and contributed immensely to its growth, now has to take brick bats when they try to release there most ambitious film in a decent theatre which was booked 6 months back. That is the irony of the situation.

  9. Sangamesh on September 29th, 2008 12:20 am

Thats cool news that Madesha giving way for Taj Mahal… Bellitere ought to interview Shivaraj Kumar and Puneet Rajkumar to get their side of the story.. Atleast to verify whether this is just a rumor floating in by Sizzling Star gang!
Of course, Shivrajkumar is a gentleman and a thorough professional(at least publicly).. Only he’d the guts to take an oath that he’d never act in remake movies and sticking to the oath till date! Bellitere ought to get his view on this matter..

  10. Naren on September 28th, 2008 11:12 pm

Krishna, when a STAR is BORN, its obvious that geography of mindsets too are different just because of that its moronic to comment on RAJ FAMILY.

I would like to second Narasimha Prasad Sir’s statement. Shivanna was the one who made way for TAJ MAHAL which was supposed to vacate for MADESHA on a AGREEMENT and COMMITMENT, but Shivanna generosity let TAJMAHAL complete its successful run for 75 days.

I still remember SHIVANNA’s DRIVER sharing his tot. he even fore casted BELLITERE article 1 month back that ” If based on Agreement and commitment we have right to take TM off from santhosh, but people would always comment on RAJ FAMILY cheaply without knowing facts, so nam Shivanna asked to release MADESHA at Triveni and let TM run”

Even our TM hero AJAY expressed his gratitude by watching Madesha at PVR on Sunday.

Let TRUTH prevail in KFI and stop lending your EAR’s to cheap RUMOUR’S.

  11. kirshna on September 28th, 2008 11:00 pm

Thank god! Finally one pro-puneet person is talking pragmatically instead of fanatically! I appreciate Narasimha Prasad for this!
By the way Calvin, Mahesh, Gautam, and Vinay were talking, one gets the sense that entire Karnataka is against Puneet and shivraj kumar!!!! But they’re popular.. Fanatics like these people who are actually spoiling Puneet and Shivraj Kumar’s name.

  12. narasimha prasad on September 28th, 2008 10:54 pm

What’s all the fuss about? TAJ MAHAL’S last week;s collection ending on 25 th sep 2008 is Rs 250,000 .It means the producers are losing Rs 150,000 per week as Santosh’s rent is Rs 400,000 per week. Vamshi was postponed in order to help TAJMAHAL as it had a weekly profit of Rs50,000 during mid september.

With regard to Milana it was houseful even today at PVR. Raj family are highly professional and businessminded when it comes to economics of film exhibition. Does anybody other than Puneet & shivraj has guts to run their films on merit?Shivraj recently removed his film BANDHU BALAGA AFTER 3 WEEKS RUN.

I REQUEST EVERYONE TO LOOK AT THINGS IN A PRAGMATIC WAY FOR THE GOOD OF KFI.

  13. Naren on September 28th, 2008 10:42 pm

Industry people are trying to find a solution for this problem, and we will be in touch with the TajMahal team to get you the latest update on this issue by tomorrow.

when is BELLITERE tomorrow coming. LOL.

  14. kumar on September 28th, 2008 10:39 pm

Where were these people ie BELLITERE guys when this happened to BINDASS which had a share of more than 2 laks and also for SATYA IN LOVE completed 100 days in 3 centres .

SIL was replaced by crap INDRA so where was BELLITERE by that time.

TAJMAHAL is deserved to run 50 days thats it if they want to run they can continue in SAPNA or some other theatre.

  15. Naren on September 28th, 2008 10:32 pm

    Miss Shreya,

From past 50 years KANNADIGA;s are teaching lesson, but to who is the question and whole world knows the answer, who is surviving from past 50 years

We Love ALL HERO’s, we LOVED TAJ MAHAL. Unlike some bogus boys who spend day night trying to kill RAJ FAMILY movies.

  16. Satish on September 28th, 2008 9:22 pm

Well, Mahesh, you can add E.Krishnappa’s Moggina Manasu also to that illustrious list :)
But dude, just bcos other people have committed the same thing doesn’t really justify Milana’s act and doesn’t make it right!

  17. Calvin on September 28th, 2008 8:44 pm

I think this is a bogus article and joins the list of the many others which are written against Rajkumar family. I know what kind of film Taj Mahal is. No producer in his right mind will sit comfortably if his film is going to be replaced. The theater owners have made this arrangement in advance. Every one knows that appu’s film are huge action entertainers and attract big bucks, why won’t a theater owner want this lucrative film rather than go to taj Mahal which is not attracting audiences. Has Mr Shanbag gone to see the theaters personally?

Also I wonder what the crying is all about? If a film is replaced, it can be shifted..Now why is that not happening? Because the film is a dud anyways…

You guys can diss appu how many ever times you want…He won a national award when u were wetting ur nappies. And someday he will be very big even outside Karnataka…Still then continue your tirade against them.

  18. mahesh on September 28th, 2008 7:12 pm

hello satish do u know how ganesh’s aramane, chellata, hudugaata, krishna ran for 100days?…..see the prajavani saaptahikapuravni………these movies are ran only by producers not by people…..and dont u know milana didnt get difficult to run more than 175 days from people?……first stop to comment about puneeth…….

  19. Satish on September 28th, 2008 6:56 pm

Ladies and Gentlmen! Please check the box item article, “Dhanya Milana” in this week’s “Hi Bangalore”.. It’ll give you some insight into how Milana ran for an year in PVR ;)

  20. mahesh on September 28th, 2008 6:06 pm

hello real kannadiga …….you had told that puneeth and shiv raj can’t match rajkumar…..its true no body can match rajkumar in the world……but puneeth has given such successful movies because of his talent not by gimmicks like ganesh…..why you all stupid peoples have anger about puneeth and his family….he didnt do anything for anyone ….i think some group of people in karnataka including raju shanbhag trying to defame puneeth raj ………no one can grab puneeth’s talent….long live puneeth

  21. Goutam on September 28th, 2008 6:01 pm

DOWN WITH CHANDRU FOR BRINGING RAJ FAMILY INTO THIS ISSUE AND DOWN WITH HIM FOR DOING CHEAP GIMMICKS

  22. Goutam on September 28th, 2008 5:57 pm

SANTOSH WAS ALREADY BOOKED FOR VAMSHI

AND VAMSHI WAS SCHEDULED TO RELEASE ON SEP 14TH ITSELF

TAJMAHAL PRODUCER HAD AGREED TO VACATE THE THEATRE ON SEP 14TH AND SHIFT IT TO SAPNA AND SINCE VAMSHI GOT POSTPONED TAJMAHAL WAS CONTINUED AT SANTOSH

SO THE PRODUCER OF TAJMAHAL HAS NO ISSUE IN VACATING NOW INFACT HE IS HAPPY THAT TAJMAHAL WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TILL NOW, AND THIS CHANDRU IS TRYING TO GAIN SYMPATHY BY BLAMING THE RAJ FAMILY….

AND THE FACT IS TAJMAHAL IS RUNNING TO EMPTY HOUSES AND CHANDRU IS DOING ALL THE CHEAP GIMMICKS LIKE PUBLISHING ADS OF 50DAYS(with towards at the top in a small font) EVEN THOUGH THE MOVIE WAS IN ITS 5TH WEEK AND LAST WEEK AD SAYS 80DAYS EVEN THOUGH THE MOVIE HAS NOT YET CROSSED 70DAYS

AND REGARDING THE MOVIE – THERE IS NOTHING GOOD IN THE MOVIE EXCEPT FOR THAT KUSHIYAGIDHE SONG

AND PEOPLE HERE BRING THE NAME OF RAJ FAMILY WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING AND R ALWAYS LOOKING FOR SILLY AND STUPID REASONS TO BLAME RAJ FAMILY

  23. Anil MP on September 28th, 2008 5:42 pm

Down with Raj Son’s for this cheap politics….

  24. real Kannadiga on September 28th, 2008 10:31 am

This is lousy politics by Raj’s sons…how can a gory movie like madesha expect to get released…this movie is more harmful to the younger generation. There was nothing great about Milana, except for the graceful music from Manomurthy and it ran for 365 days!! with less than 15 people per show..just shows their jealousy on upcoming Ganesh..now they are troubling this newcomer Ajay..its a shame!!! They dont want anybody coming up in KFI….this should not last for long as people know that neither Puneet nor Shivaraj cannot match Rajkumar..I hope atleast Ganesh survives bcoz of his talent..I appreciate Raju Shanbagh’s guts to write this article

  25. Nagaraj on September 27th, 2008 9:39 pm

Hey Naveen, cool down.. in fact, u r talking like Ravi Srivatsa’s Maadesha :)

Well, agreed that Tajmahal director wants to see 100 days.. Isn’t that what Puneet did for Milana’s completion of 365 days in PVR even though not more than 20 persons use to see that movie per day? How come that can’t be catagorized as cheap gimmick? Moreover, Taj Mahal is running full houses in Santosh!

Regarding media against Raj banner.. I dont think anybody other than bellitere and TV9 bothered to publish this news. Yesterday’s Kannada Prabha was full of glorification of Milana’s 365 days completion. Now take bellitere itself. Check out the review of Bandhu Balaga. I guess these were the only guys who gave some positive review to that movie. Check out the intro of Vamshi.. They have showered praises on Puneet and Milana as well!

The bottom line is that nobody is against Raj Banner.. But you expect people to shower praises on them no matter what they do.. Thats fanaticism, dude!

  26. naveen on September 27th, 2008 7:08 pm

isn’t whole media is trying to kill raj banner itself…first they killed madesha by publishing articles continously…if duniya comes with bloodshed that is new idea from newcomer if shivanna does that it is whole sale crime……..

now somebody says vamshi is remake and some people says it is demolishing tajmahal….Director of taj mahal is hell bent on running it 100 days…on completing 25 days he gives ads in paper saying 50 in big letters(word “towards” in very small letters) …cheap gimmick……..

whatever media tries to do they can’t stop puneeth…he is always a winner….look at the quality of his movies and appreciate there effort rahter than saying something on them….

  27. Shreya on September 27th, 2008 11:00 am

“”Annavra ” Hesaranna baLasikondu duraaDaLita naDesiddu saaku…Thanks “Bellitere” for pointing out the issue..!!!!!

“Kannadiga”s will teach a lesson to them …watch it..!!!!

  28. Prasanna on September 26th, 2008 8:26 pm

Seen Tajmahal, Except Climax, There is nothing in moviee. Bcoz of main theaters like Majestic are not showing moviee. It becomes mandatory for vamshi film makers to go towards santhosh. Hence this is not a demolish. Please don’t comment on this further.

  29. Satish on September 26th, 2008 7:40 pm

yes, sikkapatte monopoly ide KFI nalli. Yaarigottu, innu eshtu jana directors/actorsnna hinge supress maadiddaro eno.

In Hindi industry also Lata Mangeshkar sisters had monopolized for a long time.. Its good that now they have become old and less influential. Otherwise singers like Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi would have never come up.

The big corporate houses like Adlabs, PVR Cinemas should come to KFI for production. Then only such monopoly will go away and people would get to see some good movies.

  30. Sukanya on September 26th, 2008 2:26 pm

Look at the posting carefully Vinay. It does not mean any disrespect to anybody. In fact, the article clearly mentions why even the producers of Vamshi might be helpless in this matter. Also, if you feel that expressing sadness about removing a successfully running Kannada film is shedding “crocodile tears,” god help your sensibilities!

  31. vinay on September 26th, 2008 1:45 pm

Intially Vamshi was supposed tio release in Sept itself, which means Tajmahal is running on extended course. So, no need to shed crocodile tears and unecessarily bring Dr.Rajs name.

  32. Minu on September 26th, 2008 8:43 am

Maybe such things use to happen that time also.. These guys are having monoploy and suppressing new directors and film makers. This is very bad trend.

  33. Deepa on September 25th, 2008 6:44 pm

I wonder whether such things used to happen when Dr.Raj was around!! Shivraj Kumar’s Maadesha was into censor controversy, and now Puneet’s Vamshi is into theater and power play controversy! Whats happening??

Got something to say?
