Ever heard of that naughty boy who bit more than he could chew? Well, Ramesh Arvind more than suits that tag in his latest venture Venkata in Sankata, where he sabotages a reasonably good script and some titillating dialogues with too many plots and sub-plots. Venkata in Sankata is an amalgamation of some really hilarious dialogues marred by a confused script and a chaotic narration.
And you cannot give a leeway to all this simply because it’s an alleged comedy.
Digest this. The prime minister of the country lands up in a college function without any security and is chased all over by terrorists who look like jokers with a bomb in a jacket. If you didn’t get it even now, that was supposed to be funny. Then there are various outrageously dumb scenes like a chase sequence involving Ramesh and Umesh, which is too hard to digest, even if you are prepared for the unbelievable in the name of comedy.
Venkata in Sankata is about Venkata (Ramesh) who’s a cop and gets demoted as a traffic inspector because of some allegedly funny sequences. But he gets to know about a plan to kill the prime minister of our country and being the hero, he single handedly stops the terrorists from achieving what they want. There are couple of songs, some love tracks and some unintentionally hilarious fights before all these are finally accomplished. What saves the day is some sharp witted dialogues from Nanda and fantastic acting from Umesh, who plays an old woman and does a neat job with it.
There is a major issue with Venkata in Sankata and this issue plagued even Ramesh’s earlier film, Accident. When Ramesh gets to wield the megaphone, he tries too many things too soon. This film, while predominantly tries to be funny, suddenly shifts gears and Ramesh starts preaching about terrorisms and heroics of Hemant Karkare, Sandeep Unnikrishnan and other ATS police officers who died in the recent terrorist attacks. Add to this, the script demands that you leave your brains back in your home, and if possible, your sense of humor too.
It’s sort of sad. Because Ramesh Arvind, who gave us the magnificent Rama Shama Bhama which relied more on dialogues and situational comedy, has forgotten his art. Rama Shama Bhama ran on a single track, and hence was a treat to watch, much better than its counterpart in Hindi. Even Satyavan Savitri had only comedy as its theme and was a reasonably good film. But Accident and now with Venkata in Sankata, Ramesh tries to fuse socially relevant issues with humor and you wouldn’t know when to laugh and when to take things seriously.
Although I am not a big fan of men pretending to be women, Umesh has done a brilliant job as Venkammajji, a gourmand by birth. Ramesh is ok and so is Sharmila Mandre who needs to shed some of her weight urgently. Newcomers Meghana Mudian and Anusha can’t act.
P. K. H Das has nothing much to do in terms of cinematography and music director Ricky Kej doesn’t want to do anything much.
On a whole Venkata in Sankata is strictly for those who love buffoonery. It’s not for those who loved Ramesh’s Rama Shama Bhama.

Is it possible?Ramesh has done biggest mistake in the world by mixing comedy and terrorism.By this he has diluted the issue of Terrorism.
ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಮೇಶ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಂದರ್ ರಾಜ್ ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲರು ವೇಸ್ಟ್. ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರ ಕಾರಂತ್ ಅಂತು over acting ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.ಒಂದು ಚಿತ್ರ ತೆಗಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರದಿದ್ದರೆ ಸುಮ್ನೆ ಇರಬೇಕು .ಇಂತ ಚೀಪ್ ಕಾಮಿಡಿ ಚಿತ್ರ ಮಾಡಿ ,ರೇಡಿಯೋ ,ಟೀ.ವೀ. ಲಿ ಬಂದು ಪ್ರೊಮೋಟ್ ಮಾಡೋದು ಬೇರೆ.ಇನ್ನು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಚಂದ್ರು ಅಂತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ಪ್ರಾದಿಕಾರದ ಚೇರ್ಮನ್ ಆಗಿ ಮೊದಲಿನಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಾ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಅಂತು ರಬ್ಬರ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಹೆಳೆದ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ .ಇನ್ನು ಇಷ್ಟು ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲು ಚಿತ್ರ ನ ನೋಡಲೇ ಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಇದ್ರೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಚಿತ್ರಾನ್ನ ಆಗಿ ಬಿಡ್ತೀರ.ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತು ಜನ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನ ನೋಡ್ತಾರೋ ಬಿಡ್ತಾರೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಆದರೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ಗಳಂತು “ಹಾಗೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ” ಅಂತ ಬಂದು ಹೋಗ್ತಾ ಇರ್ತಾವೆ.Please listen Mr.Ramesh Aravind.You may be desperate to make movies.But we are not desperate to watch bad movies.We want good Kannada movies.

I was looking for a site which has given a right review for the movie, my search ends with beliitere (still wondering why you gave 2 star extra). I saw movie on the very second day of the film release as being a Ramesh Fan(not any more). I was having a huge expectation with ramesh diection, even i recommended some of my friends to watch the movie (ellru bayige bandange ugidru). Such a trash this movie is .. (this is the first movie in my life which i came out of theater in Interval). From the very first scene you will realise that this movie is such a shit , junk movie. I was just waiting for the Interval, i was so relaxed when i came out of the theater. Ramesh if this the case please stop making movies (stop acting also ..) You have taken audience fro granted. Its better not to make movies than making such a junk , shit movie.

only thing i would like to change, instead of PM attending the college function in the climax,they should have got a CM, it would have been fine…..

Raju Shanboig avare neevu swalpa thamma review kelsa sariyagi maadi.. ondu olle family movie with good humour n some good acting ge neevu 2.5 star kodthira ade Junglee antha Longu machu haagu asambadda sambhashane iro chitrakke 3.5 star kodthira.. nanage anisuthe nimage sadabhiruchi chitra na review madokke barolla antha… I took my father to the movie and he enjoyed a lot.. Umesh avaru thindi potha ajji patradalli thumba chennagi madiddare.. Kappikad avaru thumba chennagi maadidare.. Ramesh helo haage e chtiradalli logic illa adare idu entertaining aagide… Atleast this is the best movie among all the movies released in 2009 .. I would give a 3.5 out of 5 for this movie…….Movie worth a watch with family and kids…..
i am surprised to see tat the reviewer has not even mentioned about devdas kapikad…. he is the only entertainer in this otherwise stupid movie , in some scenes he has even outdone ramesh …
Rain song is awful not awesome, anyway that is my personal opinion, no issues if people like it.

sankatabandaaga venkataramana…..well,VIS is a pakka chow-chow bath of some good songs and dialogues…Ramesh has given a gud film..After reading the reviews at chitraloka,chitratara,TOI,DH,and other papers ,i relly wanted to chk out wat was that so good in the film…But,it’s not so gud as it is aclaimed by Press..surprisingly TOI gave the film (4/5)..ok..the film is a timepass entertainer..Ramesh luks pretty young in the film..Sharmila,Anusha are gud..Meghana was horrible..The ‘rain’ song is awesome..but the sharmila shud hav danced less…she seemed overjoyed in the dance…the college song is ok…Music is gud…Hats off to Kappikad who hav cum out wid extreme acting…Umesh is ok….Well…on the whole the film is a gus entertainer…

The movie is not bad as it is reviewed. It is very good family movie though some of the plots are not convincing still is it worth a watch and better movie compared to all the recent ones.Also comedy is not as good as Rama shama Bhama as the later was fantastic and Venkata is better than Satyavan….
